Update to Material Moon: 2.8.3
  • Remove unused urlbar progress bar styles (as of PM 27.5)
    1. This causes problems with the status bar progress meter
  • (Win10) Default accent color changed to black-on-white
  • Style cleanup and changes
    1. Simplify usage of CSS variables, reduce redundancy
    2. Unify usage of CSS variables (somehow)
    3. Improve appearance of TGS toolbar
    4. Remove roundness of sides
You can update the theme by:
Clicking here or by checking for updates in the Add-ons Manager.

I think I finally got the hang of using BBCode lists.

Will release an updated XPI soon. The one I used to package the XPIs used an unusual compression method.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the earlier update, the fixed XPI is now up as v2.8.3.1.

v2.8.3 has been pulled out to prevent others from updating to this version erroneously.

Hello. I like this theme, but I notice some issues. In Ubuntu 14.04, installing MM 2.8.3.1 produced this in the menu bar:
Image
As you see, the menu bar has darker grey styling as some other themes (like Camimoon), which is fine, but then there is a gap above the menu bar and below the title bar with the lighter grey.

And then when you use a persona, the menu bar stays grey, the gap remains, and the text becomes doubled, like so:

Thank you for reporting this bug. This will be fixed in the next release but in the meantime, can you try this test version if it resolves the problem:

Installed 2.8.4a1 in Ubuntu, and it looks like this:
Image
The gap is fixed.
However, the gray title bar remains unyielding, and the double writing persists. :|
And there is a new issue, a strange fading in the Navigation Bar. As you see, the navigation buttons are almost invisible now, very hard to see. :problem:

Update to Material Moon: 2.8.6
  • Improve overall browser theme appearance
    • Use dark mode when not in brighttext
    • Don't use gradients on notifications
    • Use blue color on tabs (not on main window)
    • Align URL & Search bars' button styles with current Chrome version
    • SVGify a lot of areas (this includes toolbar icons, tab, net-error images, arrows, and others)
  • Configurable small/large icon scales
    • By configurable, you can override any of these variables using userChrome/Stylish with your own values:
      • __--toolbarbutton-large-is__
      • __--toolbarbutton-small-is__
    • and change how large the icons are (can be in use small icons mode or vice versa)
    • Since we're using SVG now, no need to adjust tons of things just to have a large icon size!
  • Cherrypick commits from upstream PMChrome
    • Fix window title position
    • Add basic OS X support and add checkmark items
    • Style menubar on Linux in lwthemes
    • Move Windows-specific elements to winnt/browser.css
    • Improve Linux menubar styling
    • Improve appmenu appearance on Linux
  • Circle button animation should apply only to navigation bar
  • Page Info & Preferences window now has proper selected (blue) and hover states
  • Rewrite Add-ons Manager style
  • Improve certificate error page appearance
  • About pages style cleanup (home, memory, support, plugins)
  • Use material progress meter
  • Use material folder icon for all
You can update the theme by:
Visiting the releases page of the repository or by checking for updates in the Add-ons Manager.

@gracious1, can you try this new release if it fixes the menu bar problem?

Hi, I almost didn't see this! Thanks for working on this. (Click on each thumbnail below to enlarge.)

Here is what it looks like in PM 27.8.0a1 x86_64 (2018-01-31) on Ubuntu 14.04:
Image
The Location and Search bars went really dark on this theme. Now, that may be a feature and not a bug?
(Edit: Actually, I rather like this, but I wish it were a little more translucent so I could see persona better. It looks as though Material Moon has intentionally completely opaque bars).
Nevertheless, the menu bar isn't grey any more, but the menu bar and the rest of the toolbars don't quite match.
Here's a screenshot without the Navigation toolbar:
Image
There is some discoloration stretching horizontally across, and it doesn't blend together.

And here are screenshots of other popular personas to further illustrate this issue:
Image
Two Little Birds
Image
Japanese Tattoo
Image
Three Wolf Moon Shirt

The last one also has the dark URL & Search bars:
Image

For comparison, here are what a couple of these look like with the Default theme:
Image

Image
The menu and the rest of the toolbars blend together seamlessly.

I hope this is something that is fixable! Thanks for all the work you've done so far!

That screenshot looks like an older version of MacOS, not Linux. Were you using Snow Leopard?

It's Ubuntu 14.04, as I stated earlier in this thread. It has elements that look like MacOS, yes. I am using a theme (I think it is called Mbuntu-zukimac) that resembles MacOS, along with some Oxygen icons. You can tell it is not really Mac OS because there is no Apple menu, the menu bar is below the title bar, and it has the shortcuts underlined.

@gracious1, thank you for your feedback, these are now fixed in this release: 2.8.7
  • Bring back options.png: causes blank option images for some extensions
  • Further improve lightweight themes appearance based on feedback given
    • Stop showing the background gradient on the nav bar
    • it was originally intended to be able to see the toolbar images more clearly but that is no longer the case
    • Graphical tab switcher's background is now fixed to color white, using the variable causes some bugs when on a lightweight theme
    • Don't enforce black background on fullscreen (this allows it to be able to have persona background on fullscreen)
  • Make the graphical Ctrl+Tab switcher flat
  • Alternative download status button should change state properly
  • Rename a lot of variables and give them a better name
  • URL bar's background when unfocused is now less opaque when using a lightweight theme
    • This can be configured with the variable '--urlbar-unfocused-background-color'
  • Notification icon now uses the same style of other URL bar buttons
  • Restore private browsing indicator on menu bar
You can update the theme by:
Visiting the releases page of the repository or by checking for updates in the Add-ons Manager.

Update to Material Moon: v2.8.8
  • Initial support for Pale Moon 28
    • This is the last version that will support Pale Moon 27
    • Serves as a transition release (when you update to PM 28, this theme will not be disabled)
  • Fix up tab border image slice on HDPI displays
  • Fix missing RSS icons in bookmarks toolbar
  • Replace throbber with better looking CSS equivalent
    • Invisible in PM28 at the moment, but this will be fixed in the next PM28-only release which features a much better looking throbber
  • Restore native styling for toolbar(box) on Windows
  • Don't override TGS toggle button when on invisible mode
  • Fix up toolbar button styling on different areas (reduce margin/padding)
You can update the theme by:
Downloading the XPI, visiting its page at the PM Add-ons site, or by checking for updates in the Add-ons Manager.[/quote]

Hello,

First thank you for your amazing theme. i would like to have a little help/advice to adapt your theme to my config

System Config :
- Linux
- KDE5 Dark Theme
- GTK2 Dark-Theme
- Palemoon 28
- Material Moon Theme
- ThemeTool 6 Addons With Dark Color Applied

Needed tweaks :
I would like to use your theme but keep the browser native for
1. Menu list drop box colors
2. Preferences window

What i did :
I edited chrome.manifest from your theme and disabled "chrome/global/"
it works i got menu and preferences native, but it also disabled the theme for other stuff that i would like to keep like plugin page or bar size or button hover color...

Question :
How can i edit your theme to keep "menu + preferences" native ?

Thanks a lot
Note here is some captures...
Firsts captures are with disabled "chrome/global/" ... and the 2 lasts are with your theme without modification

Hi,

Unfortunately, I don't have an updated Linux test machine (it's stuck with an old version of Ubuntu) but if it's okay, I'll get back to you as soon as I get to have free time.

Thanks a lot for your answer and for your work :)

i don't think it's linux dependent... i just want to keep the theme native for
1. Menus drop box (context menus)
2. Preferences window

i think it's something under "chrome/global/" if you have any idea where i can look to edit code let me know i will check that in details myself, test etc... if you have the time of course otherwise let me know when you can :)

thanks
