Limit size of the signature

Unread post by Fedor2 » 2017-02-15, 12:13

Several people of the forum have too large signatures with images. I have made for me too for an example.
I would say this is disturbing for using forum by its basic function.

How about to introduce restriction for signature more than four strings of default board message text or image larger that size.

This rule helps me feel good:

Code: Select all

@-moz-document domain("forum.palemoon.org") {
.signature { display: none !important; }
}

How about moderators removing unacceptable sigs and giving people a warning.

i.e.: if you can't behave acceptably, you'll get warned - if repeated, you'll be banned from further participation on the forum.
Act responsibly.

The resartless way requires Stylish or StyleRRR.

PS: Here is less angry filter:

Code: Select all

@-moz-document domain("forum.palemoon.org") {
.signature > img { display: none !important;}
}

Board rules have been updated to put in writing what should be common sense.

Additionally you can turn off showing signatures globally in ucp.php?i=ucp_prefs&mode=view

Not that rules for signatures shouldn't be obeyed of course..

EDIT: My signature image should not break https anymore as I am abusing the pm-admin directory on regolith now.

I am pleased to see a curbing of SIGS
- some members in other forums try to out-do each other with the size and complexity of their sigs, to the point where sigs dominate the post.
- very discouraging for newbies who are trying to grasp a concept.
- in some ridiculous instances I have resorted to copying each post's text (the meat) to a TXT file

Some major forums ban sigs all together.
