Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
Good Day folks,
I am running Epyrus on mxlinux and was wondering why I get this error after a few minutes of the program being open.
NOTE: I am running a VPN and maybe that is blocking access to the update server, but it shouldn't because Pale Moon and Basilisk update just fine.
Thank You

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
I've had the same error a couple of times and put it down to the function not being fully implemented yet - either at the client end or on the Epyrus site. It's the only problem I've found with Epyrus and I've been running it since October, so I've no complaints.

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
I can still check for updates, which seem to work? It might check a dead url and report it as being "up to date", but that I don't know?

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
I haven't issued any automatic updates yet, but the plumbing should be in place... in fact I'm planning to try and build a new version soon.
I haven't really noticed the error you guys are talking about, but just add it onto the pile of things wrong with Epyrus that aren't supposed to be wrong with it. It shouldn't be showing that error, because there aren't updates yet.
I don't know when I will be able to resolve this, my head is only now getting back in the game after the holiday season.

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
No worries Athenian200,
Take your time. I am running the latest version, and like I said, when I check for updates through the Help -> About Epyrus route everything seems fine.

this isn't necessarily wrong or an error.athenian200 wrote: ↑2023-01-13, 18:57add it onto the pile of things wrong with Epyrus that aren't supposed to be wrong with it.
If people force-check for updates and the server-side for it isn't there yet, this message is 100% correct (and informational) that it can't determine whether there is an update or not. i.e. if you want to know, check other channels.

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
Hi,
Update worked fine on Xubuntu 22.04.
By the way: is it planned to have some language-packs at any time or can any language-pack made compatible by editing the xpi-file?

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
Not trying to be abrasive, but language packs is a completely different topic that has nothing to do with auto update. You are supposed to start a new thread with the new topic question.Lothar Weber wrote: ↑2023-01-17, 09:05Hi,

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
This keeps coming back every now and then (just did). This is not a manual update check by the user, but something going on in the background.

To freshen this thread for the most recent releases, notes for 2.0.1 to 2.0.2 mention Auto Update.

I've had no issue updating to 2.0.2 with the internal updater on Windows x64

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
I was just doing my periodic check of the forum and was surprised and happy to see there's been an update. I hadn't received any notification, and - just before I came to the forum - I was told that my 2.0.1 was up to date when clicked Help -> About Epyrus. Whatever.
My thanks to athenian200 for his ongoing effort.
I used the .zip version and simply extracted it into the current installation folder on my Win7x64 machine.
I sent myself a test mail with a .jpg attachment.

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
Slightly different problem...
Used Installer to update to Epyrus 2.0.2. Installer added an additional icon to task bar, did not remove current one.
Also...
From my post on 2022--11-06 under "Re: What do you think of Epyrus 2.0.0"...
--------------------------------------
The intrusive orange colored 'tab' at the top left corner of the 'main' screen introduced in Epyrus 2.0.0
interferes with whatever function is currently being used. E.g. Orange menu thing overlays left portion of the
word 'Inbox' or 'Trash' or whatever. This occurs in a normal (not maximized) window on an assortment
of laptops with nominal 15 inch screens . OS as listed below in profile. Users quite content with menu as hamburger
menu located on far right of Mail Toolbar.
Much prefer the look of the 'perimeter border' under Epyrus ver. 1.3.0.
Tried Classic TB2 theme, no thanks.
-----------------------------------------
This 'feature', the 'tab overlay' has not been fixed. Mail Toolbar on, Menu Toolbar and Folder Pane Toolbar off, shows anomaly.

Also not-moving to 2.x because cannot handle the new default theme. Is there a theme available that keeps the 1.x look?

Re: Epyrus - Auto Update Error?
Let me revise. With Ep 2.0.2 and theme ClassicTB2 for Epyrus 2.0.0 everything looks great because it's super-compact. It's just that starting with Ep 2.x, add-on QuickFilters doesn't work right. I know the policy for add-on compat. This particular tool is crucial for quickly managing many filters to dispense with the ever-changing junk mail over many accounts. Finding the right old version 3.12.3 that works with Ep 1.x was some effort; the author of course targets current TB
The last-working version says it is the last "version that supports Thunderbird 52".
