Unified Folders: duplicate lines/messages

Unread post by back2themoon » 2023-02-09, 11:34

Mildly annoying display issue:

When using Unified Folders, in the (unified) Inbox all messages appear two times:

MESSAGE 1
MESSAGE 1
MESSAGE 2
MESSAGE 2
MESSAGE 3
MESSAGE 3 etc.

The issue will instantly go away if simply selecting any other folder, then selecting the Inbox again. The duplicate lines/messages are gone.

It does not always occur. I think it usually happens after having checked emails on any other device (even with using Epyrus). Using IMAP, Gmail/Yahoo accounts. Exact same problem (in older Thunderbird - does not occur on current TB) also described here - note what happens when deleting a duplicate:

Deleting the ...Mail\smart mailboxes folder does not solve the issue - it will soon re-occur. It's easier to quickly click on another folder and then back to Inbox.

I'll file a bug for this on the Epyrus repo. Sorry for the delay in response.

Thanks. As mentioned by some in the linked reddit thread, this issue has mysteriously stopped occurring for now. Perhaps it's a temporary or recurring Gmail/Yahoo/OAuth2 glitch. Don't waste any time on it.

Only minor Epyrus issue I'm seeing now -and others also reported- is the failed update check message, that appears every now and then. It's the auto/background update check, not the manual one (via Help/About) which seems to work fine.
