Fox 2 the Moon v1.0.3, and prior version, do not display bookmarks properly when a dark persona is used. The text looks like the bookmark menu items are disabled, although the bookmarks themselves, when clicked, work fine.Lootyhoof wrote:Fox 2 the Moon v1.0.3 is now out ...

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
v1.0.4 is out; it'll be on the add-ons site soon. I hope this solves the issue for you?
I also styled the alltabs popout while I was there, too.

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
Fox 2 The Moon v1.0.4 breaks the Pale Moon browser, as soon as a persona, any persona, is applied. Many of the menus have disappeared, when clicking the Pale Moon button, and all sub-menus as well. Similarly, bookmarks have disappeared when clicking any folder on the bookmarks toolbar. And submenus of page context menus have also disappeared. Recovery is possible only by selecting another complete theme, then restarting Pale Moon.
To apply or change light themes/personas, It is no longer necessary to manually change the preference "lightweightThemes.isThemeSelected" in "about:config" or to restart the browser. Light themes/personas can be applied or changed using two mouse clicks and either the Theme Tool extension or the Persona Switcher extension.
Note that I was only able to test in Windows XP, so this issue may not occur in other versions of Windows. To apply or change light themes/personas, It is no longer necessary to manually change the preference "lightweightThemes.isThemeSelected" in "about:config" or to restart the browser. I've released a test version, v1.0.5test, onto GitHub. Please let me know if this solves it.

v1.0.5test fixed the vanishing menus issue. However, for Fox 2 The Moon v1.0.5test, text for inactive tabs are unreadable, when a light persona is used and the window maximized.

The Firefox 2 theme was a pain in the ass but Ryan prevailed. Superb work man.. You are a credit to the Pale Moon Add-ons Team!

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
XMoon has a few remaining issues of possible interest.
The Pale Moon menu uses a variety of text styles, from bold to normal to light.
The tab title is oriented towards the center, rather than to the left, of the titlebar

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks: PM Opera
Following are issues re: PM Opera theme
Note:
1. The titlebar for the Opera 12 standard theme (no persona) gets its color from the Zune or Royale Windows themes in Windows XP.
2. The Opera logo button for the Opera 12 standard theme is much more compact than the Pale Moon button in PM Opera. The Pale Moon buttons in Compact Moon or PM Chrome would seem to be closer matches to this Opera logo button.
3. Personas in Opera 12 cover the entire page, except for certain toolbars (such as the navigation bar, bookmarks bar, and status bar).
4. The PM Opera theme is different, in significant respects, from all of the above.
Note:
1. The titlebar for PM Opera (no persona) no longer gets its color from the Zune/Royale Windows theme in Windows XP, but internally.
2. A persona is not used in PM Opera, unless the window is first maximized (Note that the dark green background color is what the navigation bar would be, if the persona were applied to all toolbars. However, the Opera Standard theme does not apply the persona to the navigation bar, the bookmarks bar, the statusbar, or the menu bar (only to the titlebar). Thus, these toolbars perhaps should remain whitish (#EFEFEF ?) in PM Opera as well).

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks: PM Opera continued
Personas are applied with windows maximized. But bookmarks are not readable.
Personas are not applied to all the toolbars in the header, when windows are not maximized. Instead, dark blue is used. But inconsistently, personas are applied to the statusbar whether the window is maximized or not maximized.

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
PMChrome, PMOpera, and Maxi4 complete themes use modified dials on the quickdial page (about:newtab). This customization includes custom "pinned", "unpinned" or "blocked" ("X") icons for the thumbnail buttons. Some of these custom button icons cannot be seen when the thumbnail image is dark.

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
I can confirm I'm looking into these.
For starters, XMoon v1.0.1 is out. Among other things, it adds persona support, in addition to fixing all the other issues you had.

(N.B. image not mine)
In order to accommodate personas, the title text now changes colour based on what the persona chooses, rather than simply black/white. By default, though (no persona), it is black.

This is intentional, to mimic OS X as closely as possible.riiis wrote:The tab title is oriented towards the center, rather than to the left, of the titlebar

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
Thanks!
I've actually just released v1.0.2, too. It smooths out the caption buttons (they looked a little sharp on dark personas), and added some inverted icons that were a little hard to see on dark personas (new tab, all tabs, tab scroll); these activate when there's a dark persona in use.

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
I've released an update to PMOpera, adding persona support, as well as a few general fixes. As it's got quite a few changes in it, for now it's a test build, v1.0.3test. I'd appreciate knowing how well it works.
I've also release XMoon v1.0.3, which, among various other improvements, adds a bright close button on dark personas, only when tabs are not on top (as it looks fine with tabs on top due to the tab gradient).

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
XMoon v1.0.3 works perfectly in Windows XP. On the other hand, so did XMoon v1.0.2. Apparently, the close button was not an issue in XP, but only in later versions of Windows.Lootyhoof wrote:I've also release XMoon v1.0.3, which, among various other improvements, adds a bright close button on dark personas, only when tabs are not on top (as it looks fine with tabs on top due to the tab gradient).

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
The only issue was that on a really dark persona on tabs on bottom, you couldn't see the close button too easily, since it was also a dark colour and the tab in that mode doesn't have as bright a shade as when on top.

Nothing too major of course, but I thought this worked better is all.

Re: [Release] Various theme ports/forks
Granted that visibility of the close buttons with tabs on bottom has improved; but visibility of the close buttons of inactive tabs on top- these are about the same as all close buttons use to be for all tabs on bottom.
Of greater issue, with tabs on bottom, the active tab is not easily distinguishable from the inactive tabs (lack of shade difference or contrast).
