Unread post by tarakbumba » 2021-04-13, 22:27

Add as Search Engine allows to add any search on any page to the Search Bar. This add-on is forked from Add to Search Bar Firefox extension. All of code and files here are licensed under General Public License (GPL) version 2.0

Source code and released 1.0 version can be found here: Github Page

Thanks, this is useful, given that the built in feature to add a search from a page creates a bookmark rather than a search bar entry. Please consider publishing it on the addons site as well.

Thanks for your kind comment. It's already published on add-ons site.

Ah, would've been better to link to the addons page then. Since the source repository already is linked to from there. I think there's a way to push the published XPI to Github and have it appear on the releases page.

Thanks tarakbumba, this is exactly the add-on I needed! Very useful when you can't add a search engine from the search bar, and instead have to use the right-click context menu.

OP, how does this work on URLs that have paths or session IDs or other gibberish in the URL? Does the extension just save the domain portion plus "?=%S" or "s=%S"? Since it is a search bar entry, it's not easy to view what part of the URL is saved.
