fr.audiofanzine.com, PM 34.1 (win10): Strange char replacement

Post by Artisticum_237 » 2026-04-01, 04:47

Hello PM Community! :)

I have a strange problem with 34.1, which never occurred before, with no other version nor OS (MacOS 10.14, Linux EndeavourOS KDE, and now Windows 10 22H2 (Intel + Nvidia)): The letters "e" (lowercase) and "E" (uppercase) are replaced by music notes!

The problem happens only with the forum part of the site, not with the regular pages.

Forum topic example address: https://fr.audiofanzine.com/sequenceur-sampleur/akai/mpc-sample/forums/t.834756,commentaires-sur-la-news-akai-professional-presente-le-mpc-sample.html

Screen capture: https://zupimages.net/up/26/14/s70t.jpg The E (uppercase) of the word EDIT and all the other "e" (lowercase) are replaced by music notes. Wherever you go into this French forum, the problem is the same.

Example of regular, "normal" page, where the problem doesn't occur: https://fr.audiofanzine.com/news/

Of course I tried to change the characters encoding in the menu, but of course it doesn't work.

(from so far I can remember, from FF v3 until nowadays, this menu function never-ever worked nor improved anything when a character problem is happening. So I would like to suggest adding a new menu: "In case everything goes wrong" or "Murphy Strikes Back!" which could effectively try to solve character gibberish chaos on screen... :D )

I tried to deactivate extensions, and to change theme from Noïa to the regular theme, but nothing changes...

Thanks a LOT in advance for any tip, advice or trick about this situation! :)

EDIT: I just realized this problem also happens with the last FF version! Is it means that the problem comes from the forum, not from the browser?
Because I tried other French forums, with both browsers, and this problem never happens...

I can reproduce the issue in Edge, so it's definitely a problem from this particular forum you linked.

ERRATA: I'm really, really sorry, to have posted for nothing: it was simply a 1st April joke from the administrators of the forum... :(

Suffering since longtime from anxiety and depression, seeing this problem, I imagined the worse scenarios: the site is attacked, the data have leaked... or whatever catastrophic scenario my imagination could create...

Useless to say that I have not appreciated the prank at all, I don't find it even remotely funny, and above all I'm really sorry to have wasted your time for nothing!

Have a great day anyway, OK? And long live Pale Moon! ;)
