I have hardware acceleration turned off in my 64 bit linux Pale Moon 33.9.1 (GTK2) and I have no problems with Amazon.
Years of experience have taught me that hardware acceleration is a good way to bake your processor while throttling anything you are trying to display and nothing else. When it is so painfully, patently bad, it leaves me to wonder why it exists.
Off-topic:
As an experiment, with what Moonchild said regarding "hardware acceleration" linux distros, I am going to re-enable HA for a period of time and see what transpires/happens with my distro of choice; MX Linux. I'm guessing a good test for HWA is when I am visiting YouTube since I watch a lot of videos on there.

Video acceleration and compositor acceleration are two entirely different things, so one isn't necessarily a good indicator for the other.

And with the above said, this is why you are the power user and I, alas, am not. But I will leave HWA enabled for awhile and "see how it goes" mileage wise.

don't really think it's a big part. My workstation isn't super powerful by any stretch (but it's no museum piece, of course) and it has no real issue with Amazon, and as stated I disabled my ad blocker on amazon domains to prevent undesired blocking of amazon "ads" on amazon itself
Off-topic:
Well if it works for you, sure.
I just know some websites are heavy and I can't think of an easier way to slow down a computer than getting hit with lots of bloated ads.
I wonder though, about the stats of your workstation, processor type, processor gen, cores, RAM, etc...
Reason being, desktops tend to move faster than laptops if I recall correctly.
Up to you if you want to enlighten me, but i would be interested

Amazon has added a bunch of new security type stuff that make it harder to get to the functional pages. had to allow some new domains this morning. Then tonight, a whole bunch more, and solve 5 puzzles that at first made no sense. All of this just to check order status. These corporations are totally nuts if they think treating customers this way is acceptable.

I got a normal recaptcha type challenge using PM 34.0.1 instead of the weird puzzles I was given in 33.9.1. And was able to complete my order. Will see how it goes in the future.

The puzzles for logging into Amazon are sometimes impossible to solve. I'm using real Firefox now for Amazon, which lets me log in without challenges.

That would be something to ask Amazon about. Not something we can do anything about on our end.

This hasn't happened to me yet, thankfully.
Just now no problems, could be location based..

Had a problem today with amazon.it (it did work in early January).
When I arrived to the choice of the payment method (I always use a virtual credit card and do not save it) the button "Aggiungi" (Add) simply refreshed the page, but did not show any way to add a new credit card.
(I regretfully used chrome and "Aggiungi" showed a popup where I could add the new card)

I don't go to Amazon.com all that often and don't remember exactly what the issue is, but it's on my list of sites (16 of 'em) where I pretty much have to use Chromium. So it's not really a case of "regretfully;" if I gotta use it, I just use it. Don't like "gotta", but there's nothing I can do about it. I'm surviving the situation.

Curiously, I still don't have any issue using Amazon in Pale Moon (although I use the .se and .de domains, the base site would be the same, and I do occassionally get linked .com addresses where I've seen no real issue either viewing product pages)...
Not sure what I'm doing differently.
FTR, since my move north I rely more heavily on Amazon to get things as there are a lot fewer shops out here.

Part of what I say is
Off-topic:
slightly off-topic, I might open a diiferent thread on it (i.e. fallback altenrate browser). My list of sites to use chrome without regret are WebRTC (google-meet and zoom) and some google sites in the case they do not work with Pale Moon (usually they do). No problem in logging (institutionally) in to google to accesss google services. I regret in other cases ... which at the moment amounts to three e-commerce sites (one is our national railways) when one goes t the payment method, and one discourse forum. I would deeply regret if it would include my bank.
Coming back to amazon, I've used amazon.it three times in my life, and I use amazon.de twice per year (sending books as presents to friends in Germany). So far I had no problems. The problem occurred last time is in a very specific point, i.e. when one has to choose a payment method, and specifically adding a new (one shoot virtual) credit card. This used to expand in the same page, now (as seen in chrome) it opens insteaqd a popup window. So maybe it could be some of my preferences on popups, or on cookies (I run cookies exterminator), or uBlock Origin.
