Is Yahoo! Mail officially dead letter (extinct) with PaleMoon?

1. Delete all folders from "C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\..." ( NOT from Roaming folder - see image below ):

In the guide above, I made a mistake: instead of highlighting the "AppData" folder, I should have highlighted the "Local" folder from the PATH to Firefox Profile where the "Cache" folders are located:

1. Delete all folders from "C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile_with_cache_data\..." ( NOT from the Firefox Profile accessed via Roaming - see image below ):

I have not been able to get the add-on to work. I was able to download and install the add-on. One of your comments says the plug-in should be version 1.2, but my download from the "latest download link shows version 1.1.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit installed in a virtual machine on a Windows 10 PC. I have Firefox 62.0 installed. I was able to set the path to firefox and the cookies.sqlite. When I click on the link to open yahoo mail in the alternate browser, the plugin opens firefox. I enter my firefox user name and password, I notice that the password firefox shows me when i click reveal password, is incorrect. I enter the correct password and click the login button. The circling arrows icon comes up and does not go away.

This exactly the same problem I have when I click the regular yahoo mail link in Pale Moon, except Pale Moon already has the correct password saved.

Please help.

As I said in the post with the last download link, I created a new add-on with the name "Yahoo Login with Encrypted Firefox Cookies" This add-on has the latest version 1.1 and is different from the previous one, which was called "Yahoo Login with Firefox Cookies" and had the latest version 1.2. It is recommended to use the add-on "Yahoo Login with Encrypted Firefox Cookies 1.1" because it encrypts cookies, unlike the add-on "Yahoo Login with Firefox Cookies 1.2".

I don't know what's happening on your end, but if you can't "sign in" to Yahoo on Firefox either, then you won't be able to use my add-on, because it relies on cookies loaded by Yahoo in Firefox after a successful "sign in".

Please try again with the following steps (I tested this sequence once again today before posting this comment):

1. Delete all folders from "C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\..." ( NOT from Roaming folder - see image below ):

2. "Clear Data" and "Clear History" in Firefox and then close Firefox.

3. Use the add-on with option "Open Yahoo Login in Backup Browser". This is what Yahoo "sign in" looks on my Firefox after clicking on the add-on option "Open Yahoo Login in Backup Browser" ( the URL should be https://login.yahoo.com ):

4. Yahoo asked me to confirm my identity:

5. After successfully signing in to Yahoo, I opened the Yahoo Mail page in Firefox:

6. I closed Firefox and then clicked on the "Get Yahoo Login Cookies From Backup Browser + Set Cookies in Pale Moon" option from the add-on button.

7. I opened Yahoo Mail in Pale Moon with the "Open Yahoo Mail - Inbox with Backup Browser Cookies" option from the add-on button:

Important !

After making a Yahoo Login in Firefox and opening the Yahoo Mail page, you should close Firefox without doing "Sign Out" from Yahoo Mail.

Do not make "Sign Out" from "Yahoo Mail" in Pale Moon, either. Just close the Yahoo Mail page and delete the cookies belonging to Yahoo. You can delete Yahoo cookies because they will be saved in "prefs.js" file and will be reloaded in Pale Moon when needed.

When cookies saved in "prefs.js" expire, you must login to Yahoo Mail in Firefox again, then copy (again) the new cookies to Pale Moon.

I had to update Firefox to get it working. Now it is working. Thank your for this add-on!

The latter’s web client is the only way for me that I know, using Claws Mail, to reject unwanted messages according to manual filters…

I should add sending from an alias address. Often, I will write the draft in Claws Mail, but change the address in webmail.

I thought I'd chime in
I'm still using PM 33.8.2 so its not the newer version fault.
I tried a new profile, same result.
I tried a old backed up prifile and it still had cookies logged in but it wont get past the password screen, it just asks for the password again and again or just sits there "waiting".
Chrome works but I really hate having to use chrome.

So if I load a profile that is "logged in" I get this:

then when I click my user name and enter my password, it just sits there "waiting" forever.

I just dont have the time to play games. I already pretty much migrated away from yahoo because they are so stupid and annoying so its not critical.

Even searching for "help" at kb.mozillazine.org is an issue.
I have 3rd party cookies normally blocked, for like 15 years but now I got luna anime telling me its "necessary"

No recent issues here, possibly due to denying the latest version(s) of Yahoo Mail, otherwise the latest change I recall would be adding the Toggle WebComponents extension (which helps clearing CloudFlare hurdles).

It seems that there are more serious problems with Yahoo Mail than just the issue with the login functionality.

Since I can no longer login to Yahoo Mail even in Firefox (not just in Pale Moon), I ran some tests (in Firefox) where I selected the "Forgot username" option. The results of these tests would be ridiculous if they weren't so concerning

1. In the first test, I used my "protonmail.com" email account as the "recovery email", an account I've successfully used in other situations. This time, Yahoo displayed the box where I was supposed to enter a 6-digit code sent by Yahoo to my Proton Mail account, but I didn't receive any email from Yahoo (even though I made countless attempts)

2. In the second test using "Forgot username", I used another valid email address I have at "gmail.com". SURPRISE This time, Yahoo didn't display the box where I was supposed to enter a 6-digit code but kept returning to the page with the "Get code" button.

3. I mentioned at point 2 above that the attempt with "gmail.com" was a SURPRISE. That's because in the third test I used an email address from a non-existent (fake) email service, and this time Yahoo displayed again the box where I was supposed to enter a 6-digit code -- unlike in test 2, where I used a valid email address

mozillazine.org uses Anubis, which require the Anubis check to be using https: (rather then http:)

https://kb.mozillazine.org, should load for you.

I use Yahoo webmail - in SeaMonkey.

The only way I am logged into Yahoo is by virtue of cookies.
(I do not know my pw, so at some point in time, I'm apt to be... out of luck.)


Anyhow, I blanket copied SeaMonkey cookies.sqlite file, overtop my Pale Moon's version,
& then loaded, https://mail.yahoo.com/b/?.src=ym&reason=myc,
which loaded my Yahoo mail, in Pale Moon - no login required.

Like satrow shows above, I use the JavaScript-less version of Yahoo.
And by virtue of copying cookies.sqlite - from my SeaMonkey profile, into Pale Moon, I can use Yahoo in Pale Moon.


If cookie expires, or whatever, I'm done... but from a logged in session, with the cookie, there was no need to log in on the Pale Moon end.

Yahoo mail works fine for me - confirmed again now by signing out and back in. The main yahoo.com page briefly renders and then goes blank thanks to the TransformStream error.

It seems the reason I can't login to Yahoo Mail is because Yahoo considers the 32-bit version of Pale Moon to be an "unsupported browser". However, I eventually managed to login to Yahoo Mail in Pale Moon 32-bit, but not through the "default" method. Instead, I used a workaround: I first loaded some expired Yahoo cookies into Pale Moon, cookies that I had saved before using the add-on "Yahoo Login with Encrypted Firefox Cookies".

Details:

1. The "default" method of logging into Yahoo Mail returns an error:

4. I run another test. First, I save the Yahoo Mail page URL to a text file. Then, with the Yahoo Mail page opened, I use add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Saved Cookies" to save the Yahoo cookies.

Next, I close the Yahoo Mail page, clear all cookies from Pale Moon, load the Yahoo cookies (previously saved) into Pale Moon using the add-on "Bypass Cloudflare with Saved Cookies", and try to open Yahoo Mail again using the URL https://mail.yahoo.com/ . Surprise: instead of opening the Yahoo Mail Inbox page, a page with the URL https://mail.yahoo.com/n?.src=ym&reason=myc opens, telling me that "Pale Moon 32-bit" is an "unsupported browser". I’m given a link to access Yahoo Mail ( https://mail.yahoo.com/b/?.src=ym&reason=n8_unsupported_browser_trap&toB=2&ncrumb=behy5kDq/IA ), but the email service can’t be used: the first time I click an entry on that page, I am redirected to the page with the "unsupported browser" message:

Other accounts may rely on your access to that mail, so it'd be a good idea to migrate those accounts while you have access to receive email change confirmation mail.

Off-topic:
I had a Yahoo email account long ago. At that time I was also using the 32 bit version of Pale Moon. Eventually, Yahoo Mail started doing things I did not like which I will not go into.

But my grumblings with Yahoo Mail had nothing to do with 32 bit Pale Moon. Long story short, I closed my Yahoo Mail account in 2011 and I have not missed it since that time.

The average Joe sticks to Chrome and never has to deal with any of this. Pale Moon was never aimed at average Joes.

I installed palemoon on my moms laptop like 15 years ago. I think she still runs it. I just set it to forget it.
She's getting up there so I'm not even sure if she logs into yahoo anymore

I found a URL that opens a Yahoo Mail Login page that appears to be intended for the "unsupported browser" category:

I haven't tested this option because the method I described in my previous post is still working for me, and I don't want to risk any issues with logging into Yahoo Mail. If you're still unable to log into Yahoo Mail, you can try this option to see if it works. If you do, please post the result (whether it works or not).
