steam has long since had some small niggling issues but since 33.8.1.x it completely broke the site.

You're right. It was uBO having disabled stuff that it used to have enabled. I haven't changed a single thing myself, except update PM. Which is why I was so alarmed. And why I hate to update stuff. I wonder what's happening vis a vis new PM version and uBO?
