Hello:

I just updated to Pale Moon 33.7.2. I am able to log into amazon fine. I can add items to my cart. But when I try to actually purchase items, I receive a message that I am using an old browser, and that I need to update it.

Anyone else receiving this message?

Thanks!

Way back when I upgraded to PM v26.0 Amazon stopped working.
I had to set the useragent string for PM v28.8.1 and it has worked fine ever since.

How far do you get before that message comes up? I can't make a purchase until next week. But I could start the process and then cancel before completing it to see if it happens for me.

It comes up at the very last step for me.
So, maybe wait for until next week.

ALSO, I was able to purchase something in Amazon without problems by using a non-updated portable version of Pale Moon.
So, it does seem to be something to do with the latest Pale Moon update.

Possibly they are just doing a user-agent check and refusing because we're not known?
I don't have anything to purchase at the moment or I'd try.

I just ordered a couple things from Amazon.com, and everything went okay. It did seem to take a little bit longer to respond sometimes, but I had no problems or errors.

I'm running Windows-7 Professional, 64-Bit, and was using Pale Moon Portable 33.7.2 64-Bit.

Did anyone successfully make an Amazon purchase with Pale Moon 33.7.2 on Windows 8.1 or later? I am waiting to hear your experience before upgrading to 33.7.2.

I have not had a need to make further purchases so far. I will post here next time I try.

I've made a purchase in the meantime without any issues whatsoever.

I made one on amazon.de 9 days ago with no browser problem.

I note that some e-commerce sites (but currently not amazon) may have issues with Pale Moon in the credit card authentication phase (which is often managed by a third party) ... usually the transaction ends OK, but the browser may fail to return to the vendor site (which might or might not be OK ... if they sell physical stuff and send an e-mail it is OK, ... if their "product" is a web or pdf page it is not ... like train tickets with Trenitalia).

Amazon may have another annoyance (not a browser issue). If you order two or more books in the same order (with one apparent payment) they may split it internally in more orders ... more than one delivery (which may be an annoyance for the recipient only but is not a problem) ... and more than one credit card transaction (which is an annoyance if you use virtual credit cards of the "one shot" type, which are invalidated after the first transaction. My bank, which offers virtual one-shot and virtual duration cards, suggested to use duration ones in case of doubts)

The only issue I've had with Amazon lately has been during a return/refund request yesterday.
The page in question wants me to select the item(s) from the order that I have an issue with, but the checkboxes do no show up next to the items. I was unable to proceed with Pale Moon and used an alternative.

I am able to work around that issue in Pale Moon by switching to a high-contrast theme. This makes it convenient:

Amazon is working for me like it always has. Last week I did a return, and just 5 minutes ago I placed an order.
