I am running it on Debian Linux. Do I need to install additional packages or is that a PM fault?

Thanks for posting the clickable link.

I clicked on the link you provided and it opened and played for me. It was a very short "pet cat" video.

At this time I am using 64 bit (GTK2) linux Pale Moon 33.7.0 running in 64 bit Linux Mint 22.1 (Xia) Xfce. The link was also playing while I had uBlock Origin 1.16.6.0 enabled for this short video.

The really strange thing is that the same video plays fine in Tor Browser on the same machine.

I noticed you are using Debian Linux. In my second desktop tower computer which has three SSD's in it, I have one SSD running Debian. Again, I clicked on your link and the same pet cat video played without any problems.

And I am still using 64 bit (GTK2) linux Pale Moon 33.7.0 running in 64 bit Linux Debian 12.10 (Bookworm) Xfce.

As a data point, it also plays fine in Windows.

It seems I found the issue.

You're likely running into Issue #2523 (UXP)
We've wanted to update this earlier to support later versions of FFmpeg, but it caused WebAudio regressions.
It does look like Travis is actively working on this right now, so we'll have to see how things develop. You may just have to install an older package in the meantime, if possible?

I can't, as this is Debian sid and it doesn't provide older packages. I will watch the videos in another browser.

If the issue with WebAudio and ffmpeg 7 still exists in current master, it makes no sense to build myself, right?

Travis is working on it. Once support for FFmpeg7 and libavcodec61 lands, then building from source would be useful for you but not at the moment.

Off-topic:
You use Debian sid? I am surprised. It breaks a lot like ArchLinux except its most likely easier to diagnose archlinux problems over time. I don't know how youd fix problems in debian.

In arch you just load a live iso and then you can do whatever you need to. Not sure its that simple in debian. Thus sid is problematic.
But that aside, you have ffmpeg 7. I didn't even know that was out. That explains a lot. Palemoon is based originally on older source. They seem to not have patched that yet. For now I recommend using librewolf, if that's a problem.
