Re: YouTube 59 seconds
I use uBlock Origin legacy with both SeaMonkey and Pale Moon. I recently had a problem with YouTube video pages not even populating with text or images. I found that Fanboy's Annoyance List was causing the problem (after comparing with LibreWolf's version of uBlock which lacks that one). There are two other annoyance lists which do not cause problems so disabling the one from Fanboy is fine.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
I tried disabling the filterlists with "googleapis" in them, 4 of them, but to no avail. This included Fanboy's Annoyance list.
I changed my VPN to another country (US) and it's working again..for now.
Spoke too soon. Also had to allow google play in eMatrix and do a hard tab refresh. Again, for now..
A few moments later:
Well, it goes past 59 seconds, but it's still unwatchable, because PM keeps Not Responding for a second, every 5 seconds. And the RAM usage is more than it's even been before at 2500MB!!
I have a feeling, just a feeling, that's something's up with the new uBO. It's block counter on YT keeps going up at the same rate that the browser is stalling at.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
Looks like VPN change and my recent eMatrix/uBO allow/block attempts failed. It's back to 59 seconds only. Embed still works but it's too big and you can't read comments or see recommended vids.
Anyone want to compare eMatrix and uBlock Origin settings if it works for them?
Also, do uBO take precedence over eMatrix if installed after it? Feels like eMatrix used to take care of stuff before uBO, but now it's seems like the reverse.

I'm also seeing a lot of "too much recursion" errors. Is that normal or something from "return youtube dislike", "age restriction bypass", or even uBO itself reacting to repeating YT scripts?

Got it working like it used to be (after many tries of various combinations), and consistently, now. No constant browser lock-up or pausing at 59.Gemmaugr wrote: ↑2025-02-22, 11:55eMatrix allow/blocks: https://paste.pics/6dc75714db26b5792f3382efecd3e582
All I needed to do was allow the www dot google dot com with 1 script in the eMatrix pic above.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
OP here. Tried several of your suggestions, and lo - now it seems to work fine. I'm not entirely sure which one solved the problem, but I think I have established it's the uBlock add-in, not Pale Moon itself. Thanks, all!

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
sorry which fixes did you try? after the issue disappeared for me, now its coming back again.
i have an account which straight up blocks me from watching at all:
which mode of ubo are you using: easy, medium, hard?
im also getting that the text/images for a youtube page load is taking long time to load, the video would start to play while still loading video description and chat in the background.
EDIT: unblocking www.google.com domain fixed it, so now we need to unblock that in addition to jnn-pa.googleapis.com

Ad blockers violate YouTube's Terms of Service
It looks like you may be using an ad blocker. Video playback is blocked unless YouTube is allowlisted or the ad blocker is disabled.
Ads allow YouTube to be used by billions worldwide.
You can go ad-free with YouTube Premium and creators can still get paid from your subscription.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
It's fairly obvious that Google, which owns Youtube since 2006 or so, should be able to run scripts on its site. Same goes for Microsoft and LinkedIn, and other such sites owned by various companies.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
People still tolerate plain YouTube on Pale Moon? It seems it has turned into constant prayer that browser doesn't get the heart attack from it. InvalidStateError, too much recursion and possibly other odd errors in the console.
I recently performed 2 searches, one after another, when performing the second one, new results showed for a short time, then they just turned back into the ones from previous search.
It was one-time thing, but still.
And the interface still takes FOREVER to load, even on decent PCs, never mind the old ones.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
My philosophy with ematrix is that if it's not 1st party and it's not necessary for functionality, then it's likely in my best interest not to allow those 3rd party cookie/media/script/XHR/frame/other.
It wasn't a problem until recently. I'm not even sure there was a script to allow before this. In the previous few weeks I only experienced this issue when I was on a private browsing window, but still seemingly randomly. Today was the first time I encountered it while logged in.
But yeah, seconding that this seems like the solution. After I allowed the (1) script for www.google.com and refreshed, youtube started loading videos beyond 0:59 again.

It's most likely just more telemetry/analytics/etc. on Google's part.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
I use YT only for things like ceremonies or seminars (so I suppose ad-free at the source), with no particular problems (it may need a full reload if I come too early to a "waiting" venue). When I used ABL sometimes the video started, then after a short while I got the cookie-and-so popup (I do not login and reply "reject all") and it restarted from the beginning. Now that I use uBo I get the popup quite soon. Today, for an Italian Astronomical Society seminar, it occurred a mildly strange thing, i.e. while I was wheel-scrolling the popup before I could click "reject all" it told me "saving your choice". It is the first time I see an "autoreplying popup" on YT (with uBo ithis occurs regularly on my local newspaper Corriere della Sera, and is fully OK). To play safe I quitted the tab, waited a bit to see if Cookie Exterminator would clean any cookie, since it did'nt I cleared YT cookies manually and restarted from scratch (this time clicking promptly "reject all") and all went OK as usual.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
Requiring random script from google.com to not stop buffering after 1 minute seems completely arbitrary limitation. I personally settled on using Project VORAPIS for a better out-of-the-box experience and also Pale Moon friendlier experience. Though it may have its own issues, last time I checked playlist looping didn't work.

VORAPIS is the best
Now if only there was a working sponsorblock userscript that played well with it, or better, if they could integrate sponsorblock support!

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
Yes, it's been happening here for a few days via the MTube extrension (https://realityripple.com/Software/XUL/muTube/). I can also confirm that disabling eMatrix (or similar) filters for the site resolves it.
Forked extensions :
● Add-ons Inspector ● Auto Text Link ● Copy As Plain Text ● Copy Hyperlink Text ● FireFTP button replacement ● gSearch Bar ● Navigation Bar Enhancer ● New Tab Links ● Number Tabs ● Print Preview Button and Keyboard Shortcut 2 ● Scrollbar Search Marker ● Simple Marker ● Tabs To Portfolio ● Update Alert ● Web Developer's Toolbox ● Zap Anything

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
Grateful for this, though I found that I could no longer see which vids I've already watched, and that my comments didn't go through. There's as also some extra initial loading time on feed and clips. So I had to allow everything except the last 5 lines.UCyborg wrote: ↑2025-02-27, 21:58Requiring random script from google.com to not stop buffering after 1 minute seems completely arbitrary limitation.
