YouTube 59 seconds
YouTube videos run, in Pale Moon (33.6.0), for exactly fifty-nine seconds then lock up in an incessant 'loading' loop. Anyone else have this problem? The same videos play fine in Firefox. S.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
I've had this happen about once every PM version, so it's nothing new sadly. And it's nothing to do with PM either. It's YT doing ad and/or A/B testing. When it happens, I just close it down and wait a few hours or a day and it works again. I'm actually surprised how well YT works for me on PM. No ads anywhere. Only a few 5-10 seconds on initial loading. Able to view dozens of vids in a row. Though Restarting PM when it gets above 1500-2000MB in resource usage is advised to make it snappier again.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
I do not have a YouTube account so this may make a difference in why I see very few ads in YT where others have problems with YT because they have a YT account. I experience no endless circle, no stuttering, no video problems, no sound problems when I am viewing YT videos.
At this time I am using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 33.6.0 (GTK2) running on this particular SSD (I have three SSD's in this tower computer) 64 bit Linux Mint 22.1 (Xia) Xfce. The only two extensions I use for Pale Moon are uBlock Origin 1.16.6b1 and Zoom Label (1.3). I also use the Permissions Manager in Pale Moon for YT as well.
I have at least 200 YT videos saved as bookmarks. The videos cover many different topics such as prone surfing (my main hobby), standup paddleboarding, how to do things in different linux distros, fishing, archery, etc.
About the only time I see a YT ad is right before a video where YT advertises for YT Television.
I finally bit the bullet by using the newer uBlock Origin (UBO) adblocker at the link below and it helps with YT.
https://projectfresco.github.io/addons/ ... ock-origin
I also gutted one of my old tower computers and installed a completely new motherboard, different Intel processor, different heat sink, different power supply (800 watts), different new memory, new fans, but kept my three 500 SSD's. I also cut a deal with my ISP (Comcast) to up my download speed to (average) 925 Mbps. Download speed is (average) 117 Mbps.
To make this short; this tower computer (desktop) has a 12th generation Intel i7 processor running at (not overclocked) 3.60 processor speed, 32 GB of memory with a middle of the road AMD graphics card which allows me to view YT high definition mode videos where they are running at 2160p60 4K HD "without" problems.
Some newcomers just don't or forget to provide any detailed pertinent information about their computer hardware when it comes to websites they are having problems with and YT is one of them. Ditto for their adblockers. Without pertinent info, the helpers on here are in the dark.
You can see the specifications for my tower below.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
I'm watching untold hours of YouTube all the time on multiple machines with a mix of Windows/Linux. I am logged into my account when watching. I don't experience the issue you're describing. The only video playback issue I've had in recent memory was one tiny hiccup yesterday where this (now extremely rare) problem happened: viewtopic.php?f=70&t=31621
And that was the first time I'd seen that issue in weeks/months.

No one else can have your problem because you've not given us enough detail to even attempt to replicate it.
There's some useful information posted around this site which you seem to have missed, or your colour vision is extremely deficient:
Or figure out what's so special about your computer, utility software, accessories, settings and modifications etc. that's causing you to have such a rare problem.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
In my normal, ages old (SeaMonkey) Profile, I get that - with ALL YT videos.
So, got to figure it has to do with blocking, or similar, on my end, in this particular Profile.
(Rarely visit YT, so that I can't see videos there, I could really care less.)
If I create a new, clean (SeaMonkey, as it was) Profile, the video plays fully.
1. is my normal Profile
2. is new, clean @ 99%
3. is new, clean @ 100%
.
As a test, create a new PM Profile on your end, load a YT video & see if it plays, fully.
And/or, you can open existing PM into Safe Mode & also test that way.
And I'd expect that would work, which would typically point to an extension (blocking) issue.
https://support.google.com/youtube?p=videoError&hl=en
Disabling uBlock did not help.
.
In NoScript (yes, a no-no in PM-land), if (re-enable uBlock &) I Allow Scripts Globally, then YT videos play fully.
Guessing that it wants google.com allowed - but I keep google.com, blocked. (And so be it.)
(Below is showing WITH all scripts Allowed.)
. .
I suppose in uBlock, if you were to block scripts for google.com, doubleclick.net, & googleapis.com, you could replicate the issue.
(Oh, & the recursion messages would not seem to be the issue, but rather the blocking of those other domains.)

The Website is youtube.com
There are no error messages
Refreshing doesn't help.
And it's Fifty-nine, not Forty-nine.
It's all the content, not just one specific one.
My computer. There are many like it, but this one's special because it's mine.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. S.
PS - Thank you, therube, your post came in while I was typing. I shall have a go at your suggestions. S.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
No worries, superior night vision is a bonus feature for many of us.
Not all their content, only videos (possibly specific types, thus specific URLs would be useful.
4/5: new 'silent' TKL yesterday, still running the default colour phases, fluff can wait.
Yup, the problems are yours too but give us enough info to work with, please.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
There are no errors. It just drops into a continuous 'loading' circle.
Now, something useful to know might be that I'm on a geosynchronous satellite connection (not starlink). For me, a 600ms ping time is pretty good. I wonder if something is timing out because it takes half a second for my packets to get there - and for that, you can blame Einstein.
I've pasted my setup into other topics before, but maybe I can do so again. Here goes:

Now, something useful to know might be that I'm on a geosynchronous satellite connection (not starlink). For me, a 600ms ping time is pretty good. I wonder if something is timing out because it takes half a second for my packets to get there - and for that, you can blame Einstein.
I've pasted my setup into other topics before, but maybe I can do so again. Here goes:

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
Seeing as it happens to me too, once in a Pale blue Moon, here's my complementary troubleshooting info. Hopefully something is shared among them to illuminate this issue further;
I don't use satellite internet though. I'm using 250/250 fiber through a VPN (Bahnhof & Integrity VPN).

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
i had this issue previously before in nov 2024. it happens randomly, with no apparent relation to os version, pc, browser version, etc.
previously this issue was resolved by https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets ... 2539605188
unblocking jnn-pa.googleapis.com fixed it, whereby i had this domain blocked for YEARS with no issues.
now i get this same issue on my linux mint laptop logged into the same account with firefox 129 with ublock origin 1.61.2.
after a few days, the issue disappeared without me doing anything.
yes disabling any ad blockers will solve the issue but i get bombarded with pre-roll ads, ads injected in the middle of the video, and other obtrusive ads all over the page. goodness.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
Franstam is right. I had completely forgotten that I had to permanently allow jnn-pa.googleapis.com in eMatrix. I did still encounter this issue just a few days ago again, but it was gone again after a short while.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
This started happening again just today. On all videos of https://www.youtube.com/@ohiobodycam330/videos ..No jnn google api found in eMatrix. Lots of console errors with my default setup profile though (logged in to youtube).

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
@ Gemmaugr
I watched four of those videos on the link you posted in your latest post. One video is still running in another tab (Drunk Teen Fleeing State Troopers Launches Car Off Exit Ramp) while I type this post.I am not experiencing any problems at all.
One big difference between you and me, you are logged into YouTube while I am not logged into YouTube since I do not have a YouTube account. When one is logged into YouTube, they are at the mercy of YouTube since they must accept what ever YouTube is offering. Also, I do "not allow" cookies for YouTube when using Pale Moon and also block ads.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
@ Night Wing & in general
I tried again just now and it was still buffering at 59 seconds, but then I tried another vid and it worked, and then back to Ohio Body Cams and now it works again. It's like that sometimes. On and Off at rare occasions.

And now it started happening again.. They must be in real A/B testing mood at the moment. Coincides nicely with them removing uBlock Origin from extensions too.

YouTube is probably the site I visit multiple times during the day and night looking for "stuff". Here is something I noticed which you use and I do not (now).
YouTube is probably the site I visit multiple times during the day and night looking for "stuff". I just do not have any problems with YouTube. You are using the old uBlock Origin 1.16.4.30 where I finally bit the bullet and I am now using uBlock Origin (1.16.6b1). It is at the link below.
I find UBO 1.16.6b1 works better on YT than (1.16.4.30). It is a "shot in the dark" but maybe you should try the different version of UBO than the one you are now using. Worth a try in my opinion.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
It's worth a try indeed. I've just not done it because it seemed a tad too much work to switch at this moment, as it's not simply an update. I'll look over what needs to done more in-depth later.

Re: YouTube 59 seconds
Followed the steps, got new uBlock Origin version.. Didn't help at all. In fact, it feels like it made it worse..
Yup, it's definitely worse. Higher RAM usage and more CPU spikes. Constant "PM stopped working" in title for a second or two. And still doesn't let me go past 59 seconds.
I found a workaround though. Switching "watch?=" with "embed/" makes the jnn-googleapis appear and the video to load. I hate that big screen though.
