Re: No More Twitter/X
Thanks! It works. Question, will the value be "restored" when I update to the next version of PM? I'm assuming that Moonchild will "update" this value in future versions.

Re: No More Twitter/X
It does not make sense to update this override as long as the site works without override. So it will be most probably removed.
Anyway, updates don't modify preferences set by the user.

Re: No More Twitter/X
Thanks. I'll just reset the value before I update to the next version, since this is probably temporary. I couldn't remember if User Prefs were retained. I have all of the prefs I want to keep in my user.js file.

I'm surprised anyone still uses Twitter, especially since that idiot Musk took over and what became of the place.

IT WORKED!!!!!!..... but it took me a while to realize deleting overriding user agent is the same as "deleting the value and leaving it empty". I am rusty as about:config

Re: No More Twitter/X
Thank you - that worked. I try and avoid Twitter itself but occasionally need to go there.
I tend to use Nitter which has most of what I need without any of the drawbacks
PS The change doesn't seem to work with an older version of PM I keep to access some sites

That's what I thought, but somehow it still doesn't work for me. Not that I'm missing much, but I'd like to make sure that I understand what/why for future endeavors.

Yes, that's what I meant.
With the above preference it should work for you as well, at least with a fresh profile.
Before testing with a fresh profile make sure that the User Agent Mode is set for Firefox Compatibility which is the default setting.

Re: No More Twitter/X
Aha, was set to false in prefs.js, so it could not be changed in about:config. Removing (commenting out) that setting (with Pale Moon closed!) in Notepad fixed the Twitter/X problem -- well, at least it fixed the inability to open the website; fixing "The Twitter/X Problem" will take a bit more than that!
Thanks for the pointer in the right direction.
Code: Select all

Re: No More Twitter/X
PM 32.5.2 is out. The release notes state that Twitter's useragent is now deleted by default.
Hopefully, this shouldn't be a problem anymore, even for new users.

Twitter/X seems to be working fine for me in PM 32.5.2. Thanks, Moonchild!
