"bahn.de" Website

Unread post by us66mo » 2023-11-05, 10:16

I work six months a year in Germany and often travel with the German Rail system (Deutsche Bahn AG).

Since the redesign of the www.bahn.de website I get an error message that I need to use a modern browser like Chrome, Firefox etc. I edited the "override" in my about:config for "bahn.de" to match other sites where I had this issue, on the other sites the modification eliminated the "outdated browser" error message but not on bahn.de.

Any suggestions for a better "override" string?

Thanks much!

I don' t understand German, but the main page seems to load fine without any warnings on 32.5.0. Do you get the error message when you go to a specific URL, say for buying tickets or looking at schedules?

Basilisk also had no issue displaying the main page (and switching to English).

Here is a screen shot of what comes up on my Pale Moon, version 32.5.0. The German text in the yellow box says: "You are using an untested browser. Our application was not tested with your browser or your browser version. The application might not function properly. We recommend using the current version of these browsers ..."

It works fine for me on Linux with 32.5.0, no warnings at all.

Also 32.5.0 Linux, a bit slow to load the initial assets but no warning (main German version). Ditto switching to English version. Faster load w=switching to Italian version.

I clicked on the OP's link and the page rendered properly for me in about maybe in 2 seconds of time. I did not get a warning about using a modern browser. What I did get was a prompt saying, "allow all cookies or some cookies". I clicked on "some cookies", the prompt went away and I could surf all over the site.

At this time I am using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 32.5.0 running in 64 bit linux Mint 21.2 (Victoria) Xfce. I also have uBlock Origin 1.16.4.30 enabled for the site.

Did you set a custom UA at one point? It's looking for at least "Firefox/102", which is what my Basilisk has.

That did it, thanks! Mine was set to Firefox/99, now it works without the warning. Great!
