American Express Card Login (americanexpress.com) consistently crashes upon appearing to successfully log into the site

Off-topic:
(only read if you want to take the time) Let me be clear, I am going to continue to use Pale Moon as much as possible and my loyalty and desire to keep Pale Moon my number one browser will never cease. However it has unfortunately become increasingly cumbersome to keep Pale Moon as my Windows Default browser. What has led be to make this difficult decision after all the years of resisting making the "default" change is regarding links on my start-page and/or emails etc (i.e. primarily Safeway Supermarket, Chase Bank, Charles Schwab) to logins that either lock-up or are in some manner non-functional in Pale Moon (in cases of a lock-up requiring me to stop the process via the Task Manager). In the case of Safeway that I use quite often there have been numerous discussion on the board regarding the issues and it appears that this site will not be addressed anytime soon because their website is reportedly not properly coded. Because the site works on other browsers and I use this and other links to sites often, while my go-to browser as a start-up will continue to be and always be Pale Moon as my primary browser, the Windows default will for now need to be changed in my case (at least until some of the rough-spots for Pale Moon hopefully improve). This is something I haven't wanted to do and put off for some time, but needing to switch back-and-forth between Windows Default browser to continue to use Pale Moon basically for all things isn't making much sense with the continued unresolved issues (I'm not talking about those issues that will be addressed in the next update, there are a number of other issues that appear to be difficult to fix in the near-term).

What I've been doing up until now (which is increasingly becoming burdensome) is whenever I need to click on a link on my start-page to use a website that has issues with Pale Moon (i.e. Chase Bank, USBank, MSN mail, Safeway, Charles Schwab, Discover Bank to name a few off-the-top-of-my-head) I will change the Windows Browser Default to another browser temporarily then click the link for the site on my start-page or email link or web-page link that I want to use and then change the Windows Browser Default back to my primary Pale Moon browser once I've accessed the site with the temporary default browser. This is the "cumbersome" part of using links on my start-page or on websites or in emails. It just makes sense to default Windows to a browser that doesn't have these issues (at least until things improve). Again, Pale Moon is MY browser of choice and will be what I continue to use other than when it comes to the exception sites that break Pale Moon in some manner.
So in reference to the off-topic above (which I felt I needed to explain for those interested as to what led me to discover the error on the site I'm reporting in this topic) - I have found that the American Express login page that I had been reporting to the company for many months some time ago regarding their 2-step verification that didn't work in Pale Moon actually works in my current Windows Default (Vivaldi) browser (explanation above as to why Pale Moon is for now not by "default" browser for Windows). Never thought, back at that time, to test in another browser for this functionality and I had stopped using the card due to the problems on the website using Pale Moon.

However at this time the American Express Card login (has now gotten worse than before) in as much as it is now consistently crashing Pale Moon (the site was functional before and just had 2-step verification issues on Pale Moon). I understand that this applies only to users who have an American Express card account in order to confirm (so confirmation of this issue may not be forthcoming) hence will not be something easily addressed.

The actual login appears to reach a point where the site has successfully logged-in - information displays as expected regarding the account - however at some point after Pale Moon ("not responding") hangs (a few times), the site crashes.

Tested in Safe-Mode - produces script-errors prior to the crash (using Safe-Mode) that do not render when not using Safe-Mode.

The first script-error was: Script: https://www.aexp-static.com/cd…app/4.92 ... ndors.js:7 (debugging this script-error produced more code than can be entered into a forum post)
The next script-error that preceded the actual crash I was unable to capture.

What I was able to capture in the Error Console prior to the crash (when not in Safe-Mode):

Code: Select all

Timestamp: 12/17/2022 10:25:24 AM

^ That's good news, so then this will be one of the sites that will thankfully get addressed for 32-bit Pale Moon browsers on the next update.... (one less problem site is always good news )

Just used American Express 30 minutes ago. Login and any other wanderings around the site works Ok, just takes a loooong time.
Like having time to eat a 7 course dinner!

Been that way for well over a year. Web Console is jammed full of all kinds of errors, too many to mention and load here, as was stated above.

Note what systems we are using, along with what is on P M.
Win 8.1 x64 or x32, Win 7 SP1 x64. Nothing hanging on Pale Moon except uBO and P M Commander.

The reason the site at least works (as bad as how it "works" might be) and isn't crashing in your case is because your using the 64-bit browser (presumably the site consistently crashes on 32-bit but not on 64-bit).

Re: American Express Card Login (americanexpress.com) consistently crashes upon appearing to successfully log into the s

The reason the site at least works (as bad as how it "works" might be) and isn't crashing in your case is because your using the 64-bit browser (presumably the site consistently crashes on 32-bit but not on 64-bit).
Do NOT assume that only a x64 version of P M is used.
Note what systems we are using, along with what is on P M.
Once again, read the systems used!! See the last line of any of this user's posts.
Win 8.1 x64 or x32, Win 7 SP1 x64. Nothing hanging on Pale Moon except uBO and P M Commander.

OK so was it Pale Moon 64-bit that you used (that "works Ok" on the AMX site)? I'm guessing it wasn't 32-bit - right?...

Not sure at what point this topic issue has been resolved - but thought that I might as well report that I've tried logging into site just now and it appears to be working properly (I've been logging into the site in recent weeks - just can't recall if I had been using Pale Moon for any of those logins) so I've checked the topic as solved.
