(only read if you want to take the time) Let me be clear, I am going to continue to use Pale Moon as much as possible and my loyalty and desire to keep Pale Moon my number one browser will never cease. However it has unfortunately become increasingly cumbersome to keep Pale Moon as my Windows Default browser. What has led be to make this difficult decision after all the years of resisting making the "default" change is regarding links on my start-page and/or emails etc (i.e. primarily Safeway Supermarket, Chase Bank, Charles Schwab) to logins that either lock-up or are in some manner non-functional in Pale Moon (in cases of a lock-up requiring me to stop the process via the Task Manager). In the case of Safeway that I use quite often there have been numerous discussion on the board regarding the issues and it appears that this site will not be addressed anytime soon because their website is reportedly not properly coded. Because the site works on other browsers and I use this and other links to sites often, while my go-to browser as a start-up will continue to be and always be Pale Moon as my primary browser, the Windows default will for now need to be changed in my case (at least until some of the rough-spots for Pale Moon hopefully improve). This is something I haven't wanted to do and put off for some time, but needing to switch back-and-forth between Windows Default browser to continue to use Pale Moon basically for all things isn't making much sense with the continued unresolved issues (I'm not talking about those issues that will be addressed in the next update, there are a number of other issues that appear to be difficult to fix in the near-term).
What I've been doing up until now (which is increasingly becoming burdensome) is whenever I need to click on a link on my start-page to use a website that has issues with Pale Moon (i.e. Chase Bank, USBank, MSN mail, Safeway, Charles Schwab, Discover Bank to name a few off-the-top-of-my-head) I will change the Windows Browser Default to another browser temporarily then click the link for the site on my start-page or email link or web-page link that I want to use and then change the Windows Browser Default back to my primary Pale Moon browser once I've accessed the site with the temporary default browser. This is the "cumbersome" part of using links on my start-page or on websites or in emails. It just makes sense to default Windows to a browser that doesn't have these issues (at least until things improve). Again, Pale Moon is MY browser of choice and will be what I continue to use other than when it comes to the exception sites that break Pale Moon in some manner.
However at this time the American Express Card login (has now gotten worse than before) in as much as it is now consistently crashing Pale Moon (the site was functional before and just had 2-step verification issues on Pale Moon). I understand that this applies only to users who have an American Express card account in order to confirm (so confirmation of this issue may not be forthcoming) hence will not be something easily addressed.
The actual login appears to reach a point where the site has successfully logged-in - information displays as expected regarding the account - however at some point after Pale Moon ("not responding") hangs (a few times), the site crashes.
Tested in Safe-Mode - produces script-errors prior to the crash (using Safe-Mode) that do not render when not using Safe-Mode.
The first script-error was: Script: https://www.aexp-static.com/cd…app/4.92 ... ndors.js:7 (debugging this script-error produced more code than can be entered into a forum post)
The next script-error that preceded the actual crash I was unable to capture.
What I was able to capture in the Error Console prior to the crash (when not in Safe-Mode):
