https://web.telegram.org redirects me to https://web.telegram.org/k/ (sometimes its a different character, like /z/ ) and all I see is a complete empty window. I disabled uBlockOrigin on the site and allowed all scripts in eMatrix.
The html code it loads is this:

Code: Select all

<!doctype html><html lang="en" translate="no" class="notranslate"><head><meta charset="UTF-8"><title>Telegram Web</title><meta name="title" content="Telegram Web"><meta name="description" content="Telegram is a cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging app with a focus on security and speed."><meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,initial-scale=1,maximum-scale=1,user-scalable=no,shrink-to-fit=no,viewport-fit=cover"><meta name="mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes"><meta name="mobile-web-app-title" content="Telegram Web"><meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes"><meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-title" content="Telegram Web"><meta name="application-name" content="Telegram Web"><meta name="msapplication-TileColor" content="#2b5797"><meta name="msapplication-config" content="./browserconfig.xml"><meta name="theme-color" content="#ffffff"><meta name="google" content="notranslate"><meta property="og:type" content="website"><meta property="og:url" content="https://web.telegram.org/z/"><meta property="og:title" content="Telegram Web"><meta property="og:description" content="Telegram is a cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging app with a focus on security and speed."><meta property="og:image" content="./icon-192x192.png"><meta property="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image"><meta property="twitter:url" content="https://web.telegram.org/z/"><meta property="twitter:title" content="Telegram Web"><meta property="twitter:description" content="Telegram is a cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging app with a focus on security and speed."><meta property="twitter:image" content="./icon-192x192.png"><link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="180x180" href="./apple-touch-icon.png"><link rel="icon" href="./favicon.svg" type="image/svg+xml"><link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="16x16" href="./favicon-16x16.png"><link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="32x32" href="./favicon-32x32.png"><link rel="icon" type="image/png" sizes="192x192" href="./icon-192x192.png"><link rel="alternate icon" href="./favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"><link rel="manifest" id="the-manifest-placeholder"/><script defer="defer" src="main.888ba34d3bb6be1d9efc.js"></script><link href="main.5f8478ed77320e7b9dfd.css" rel="stylesheet"></head><body><noscript><video src="./nojs.mp4" class="nojs-video" mutex86-64 Linux based on Slackware 15.0.d loop autoplay playsinline disablepictureinpicture></video><h1>Telegram Web</h1><p>Please, enable JavaScript to open the app.</p></noscript><div id="root"></div><div id="portals"></div></body></html>
The F12 / Developer Tools Web Console tells me in debug this:

Code: Select all

[Sources]
The page has no sources
In Inspect/Rules it gives me two warnings

Code: Select all

-webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased;
-moz-osx-font-smoothing: grayscale;
Other than these I see no obvious error in Developer Tools.

Edit
My system: x86-64 Linux based on Slackware 15.0.

Not a fix... but as an alternative the Telegram Desktop version works well on Win 7 & 10: https://desktop.telegram.org/ :)

I would expect a standalone desktop client to be available for Linuxes also?

There certainly is. I've been using it for a long time.

Off-topic:
Quite a shame for a centralized program that boasts to love open sourceness and all to support whatever Chromium-only behaviour instead of one that works everywhere like pretty much every Matrix web client, WhatsApp web and even Discord(even though the latter always had a lackluster web client
You can try https://web.telegram.org/?legacy=1 , can't try to login here but it not being a blank screen is a good sign. Not sure why this one became legacy

I was looking into installing it via flatpak - but https://flatpak.org/setup/ gives me a long list of OS to choose from for the Quick Setup - but not my OS, Slackware.
What do I do to install Telegram flatpak for Slackware 15 x86-64?
