Mapquest won't load in Palemoon

Unread post by tman801 » 2022-07-18, 20:11

Running Ubuntu 22.04 with Palemoon version 31.1.1 64 bit.

I can no longer get Mapquest to load in Palemoon. I get a blank page.
It loads fine in Firefox, which I hate to use.

Is there a setting I can apply to get it to work?

Thanks.

Firstly, wrong part of the forum. This should be posted under Web Compatibility Support.

Secondly ...

... is not currently supported by Pale Moon. Tracked in UXP #1691. You'll have to continue using another browser until that UXP issue is completed.

Thirdly, the correct name of the browser is Pale Moon, not Palemoon.

What's weird is I searched duckduckgo for "mapquest blank page", and I get lots of complaints going all the way back to the early 2000's. You'd think that showing blank pages might be not so good for business.

I tried a bunch of different user agents, including Android and old versions of Internet Explorer on Windows 7 to see if I could get mapquest to serve me up a "mobile" page or a "classic" page, but no success.

I wish they would work harder to give a good user experience, as we need some good competition for google maps, and mapquest always offered good map directions in my experience.

I use https://www.openstreetmap.org/ primarily. I used to use MapQuest, and I was very pleased with them. I don't remember if it was when I switched to this browser or after a while of using it when I could no longer use MapQuest. I will use Google Maps if I ever need to. I haven't used that part of them in so long I don't know if there are any issues between Pale Moon and Google Maps.

This is something they probably did very recently, just a few days ago it was working fine for me, but now just a blank page with the same setup on my end.

Even though I can't remember when or why I stopped using MapQuest, it certainly wasn't because of an issue this complex.
