Ordnance Survey UK Govt Maps

No errors as such just a page coming up which essentially says only chrome based browsers are permitted. No obvious way around it, just have to use an alternative :-( Pretty poor for a government agency.

They seem to be filtering by useragent. Setting up a site-specific useragent for osmaps.com using Opera's useragent gets me into the site. Appears to be functional, but I didn't spend too much time trying out the site's various functions.

Same message in latest FF ESR, 91.11, and in latest Vivaldi.
OS shows FF as 76+ - I reckon that 91 is plus quite a lot.

It seemed pretty odd that they would "support" MSEdge but not Firefox so I had a dig and it turns out they are hosted on Azure :crazy: . Probably best to give the entire thing a swerve and just use https://www.openstreetmap.org/ instead.

@geraldh: You can try accessing the free OS maps online using Pale Moon via 'The Hug' at: https://maps.the-hug.net/

AFAICS these OS maps are still being provided 'free for leisure use'... if interested see more involved discussion of OS maps, changes, charges, and other UK-wide mapping on The Hugs' website... e.g. here: https://www.the-hug.co.uk/opus2659.html

"OS OpenSpace was Ordnance Survey's first venture into mapping APIs when launched in 2008 and here at the Hug we embraced it and used it to create the still very popular maps.the-hug.net which offers free access to OS 1:50,000 mapping in our GPS mapping application."

PS. Left-field if not downright bizarre name for a mapping website? A challenge for SEO? :roll:

@geraldh
This time as mentioned above it's UserAgent sniffing.
Masking as Firefox 91 works as far as I can see.

@Giraffe
Firefox ESR 91 works (at least with a correct UserAgent string).

AFAIK the user string is as supplied - I don't even know where to find it!

Edit: just tried FF again and it's working! No changes made at all.

I have contacted Ordnance Survey about the issue and they have replied. They have offered to look into the issue and I'll report back if there is any progress...
