Unread post by smithy » 2022-05-24, 15:07

I'm unable to view videos in full screen mode with Pale moon at dailymotion.com.
I don't remember any problems before.
The Error console mentions PureURL. (see below) so I disabled that and restarted the browser. Still no luck.
My backup browser, Librewolf fared even worse, and was struggling to play anything at all, let alone in full screen mode.
Here is the video in question if you want to try yourselves.

EDIT.
The error console output with pureurl disabled is:

Code: Select all

Timestamp: 24/05/22 15:54:19
Error: TypeError: aPopupMenu.triggerNode is null
Source File: chrome://browser/content/browser.js

With PureURL enabled.

Check this post.
Thanks, but there are no green bars or colour issues for me, just no full screen mode.
Not the end of the world, and obviously no quick fixes either.
I can live without it..

The PureURL error is internal to it and pops up occasionally, not related to your issue. When troubleshooting, you can also just quickly toggle it off with the toolbar button and reload the page instead of disabling it and then restarting the browser.

There must be at least one green bar, namely in front of your eyes which hinders you to see the line in code tags in the linked post. :)
It's related exactly to your issue. Below it there is also the explanation for your issue.

no full screen mode.
Not the end of the world, and obviously no quick fixes either.
For your convenience copying the relevant portion here:

Code: Select all

10:07:36.402 Request for fullscreen was denied because Element.requestFullscreen() was not called from inside a short running user-generated event handler. 1 dmp.theme_neon.30a22a0312d4e4a0103f.js:1:31925
That is by design to avoid spoofing exploits, and dailymotion needs to update their code. Feel free to shoot them a message telling them about this error and asking them to update their player code to deal with this security restriction (Firefox users will also have this issue since the same was implemented there).

Hmm. Odd maybe, but I had no issues at all when viewing the video fullscreen. I am running PM ver. 31.0.0 (64) on a Win10 Pro laptop.

This is, as far as I understood, about the player's own full-screen control which I've confirmed doesn't work when clicked and throws the message I quoted. Other ways of going full-screen might still work, perhaps.

I might have to double hmm then.. You are talking about the fullscreen icon (the rounded corner square) on the video, ya? That's what I clicked on.

Presumably, the OP is running PM 31.0.0.
