I just move messages to the Trash folder and let the 'system' actually 'empty the trash'.
Is there a setting for that? I couldn't find one. Does it hold it for 7 days, 30 days, or some specified amount of space to trigger? I wanted to set it in case the other workarounds stop working.

(It's running so slow for me right now I think they've about ruined it for Pale Moon access.)

Update on 'Emptying Trash' bug....

Got a response from ProtonMail support today. They were able to reproduce the 'Emptying Trash' bug previously discussed here from the screen shot and Web Console output I sent them. No promised fixed date, however.

They agree with the advice I gave here before, i.e. use the previous version for a while.

Progress is slow, but we might get there!

I'm beginning to doubt that. I hope I'm wrong . . . I also hope they don't remove the option to use the old version.

Regarding the emptying the trash bug - just tab over with your keyboard until you are over the "delete" button and press the space bar. If you prefer to cancel and get rid of the dialog box just hit the escape key. Works for me.

Tried the current version of ProtonMail (4.0.12) on 03Apr2022. The 'Empty the Trash' bug, as mentioned above, is fixed. Personally, I still use the previous version because it loads faster, probably not as many long running scripts and whatnot.

It has a new bug now though. Try to compose a message. (only tried w/ PM30.0 fwiw)

Composing and everything else is working fine for me on Pale Moon 29.4.5.1.

In addition to 30.0.0, I see the Composer problem in 29.4.4 and in Waterfox Classic as well.
I tried toggling WebComponents in 30, didn't make any difference.
I did find a usable workaround - going to fullscreen mode.
I know Protonmail is just going to keep messing things up though.

I'm seeing some kind of a bug, but it doesn't prevent me from sending emails. The bar that has the move to trash, move to archive, etc., buttons stays in the foreground when clicking compose, and partially blocks the "from" and "to" and "subject" sections, but I can still type in them. I'm sticking with the old version as long as it's available. I'm still on version 30 (until a new 29 is released) as the poster who reported this.

Oh yeah, that, that's been going on for a long time, and if I recall it does it on some other browsers besides just Pale Moon. I just resize the composer popup window and then I can see to type, not a problem. But this is off-topic and unrelated to the emptying the trash subject altogether, so I'm going to stop replying about it here.

I just got an email today that the New Proton Mail is 'fully operational', so they are going to be decommissioning the Old Proton Mail within a couple days.

I checked the New Proton Mail and found two bugs that I had previously reported. Still not fixed.

So much for actually fixing anything...

I sent in new Bug Reports, begging them to keep the Old Proton Mail, but I am not holding my breath. So much for their commitment to Internet Privacy.

So there's another thing I'll be forced to use Dissenter for.

As long as the empty trash bug has been fixed, I'm okay with it.

I would check and put in a new bug report if it is still present.

Last night, I found that the Link Confirmation popup screen does not work. It's meant as an Anti-Phishing measure and it will pop up, but if you click 'OK', it just returns the email without launching the link.

I also found that if you go into Settings and try to re-order Folders, the drag icon will appear, but doesn't work. Very ironically, it does work for ordering the Filters.

Both of these are bugs that I previously found, reported, and was assured that they had been passed onto the Dev Team.

So I have also put in an Other Bug Report, asking them to reconsider decommissioning Old Proton Mail. I don't expect them to actually do anything, but I figured it was worth a shot.
