Most people's bitchute are still not playing without an extra player, correct?
Not here. BitChute works fine through my normal PM browser.

Aha! I just noticed, if I disable uBlock Origin, I get the results of the moving bar-graph style graphic. Curious! I don't have anything set in UBO for BitChute! BitChute is fully allowed. If I re-enable UBO, BitChute works!

On another note, I used my other profile that doesn't have UBO installed and I get the continuous bar-graph style graphic. UBO, somehow, allows BitChute to work! :wtf:

Try adding this to your adblocker:

Code: Select all

bitchute.com^$inline-script
I noticed it when reviewing my Element Hiding scripts. Without it, the bar-graph returns.

Seems worth a try, even though my PM is already much slower than my Chrome. Is this it?...

See my edit above. You may not need UBO if you have another adblocker.

You will need the legacy version for PM:

Maybe he saw the word 'legacy' and short circuited into thinking it is a synonym for 'obsolete' when actually the CAA version of uBO is older.

He doesn't need to alter his version, just try the script I mentioned.

I know, your solution being for uBO should've been obvious to anybody. It's crazy how nobody bothers to look at the log of their adblocker to find the URL that was blocked and then whitelist it instead of disabling adblocking altogether or blaming the particular one they're using.
Adblockers aren't magic, they're entirely as effective as the rules they use.

When I discovered that UBO allowed BitChute to work, I had to dig a little deeper. I had allowed BitChute in the main UI, but hadn't known that I had the Element Blocking script installed. I can't remember when I added it, but I just did a simple "bitchute" search through my filters and found it. It may not work for others, but that's what lets UBO allow BitChute to work for me. I would suppose that the script may work in ABPrime or AdBlock Latitude as well.

Taking a quick look at this documentation, it doesn't look like either ABL or ABPrime support the syntax to block inline scripts.

@People who prefer to use those adblockers: try Kris_88's script using Greasemonkey for Pale Moon.

uBlock Origin v1.16.4.30 - Win 7 pro 64bit, BitChute was giving the endless dancing bars since sometime last year every time it opened. I've been using PMPlayer up to now to watch video with BitChute.
Having applied the script to uBlock, BC works normally again in PM browser. Thanks.

NoScript with Element Hiding Helper, in my FX days, worked with page elements. I had that script in my UBO in the list of elements I have hidden (I can't remember why). It wouldn't hurt anything for those using ABPrime or AdBlock Latitude to give it a try. If it doesn't work, they can just remove the script. ;)

What you posted is a rule to disable inline scripts, it is not a rule to "hide elements".
I had tried it before posting earlier (and though it worked great in uBO, it didn't work for me in the ABP-derived adblockers) - that's why I checked ABP's documentation.

(For info, here is uBO's documentation for that same rule.

OK. You didn't mention that you had tried it. I don't know why I had it in with my element blocking scripts. Well, I guess that it will just work in UBO. At least it will help a few folks anyway.

Re: BitChute videos no longer display (simple fix)

Unread post by zip2mike » 2022-03-01, 09:12

I'm keenly aware that my posts tend to result in some form of Forum Rules infraction... So I apologize in advance if I've stepped out of line again in attempting to share this fix. I just thought it might be appreciated by others like me who are not savvy enough to muck around with scripts and such.

I can now click on links to Bitchute videos and watch them without needing to copy the link to a different browser every time.

This fix is simple and intuitive, and it works for me on the latest version of PM. As an added bonus, I have also found that after following the steps below, when I click on videos at the Bitchute site, the player now works with no additional steps needed. In the past, videos would not load properly on the site... So give it a try, it might work for you too!

1) Install the Pale Moon add-on 'Zap Anything' and restart browser if required.
2) Open a Bitchute video and Right Click on the animated bars.
3) Click on "Zap this object" from the menu, which will produce a blank active area.
4) Right Click on the blank area and you'll see player controls at the top of the menu.
5) Clicking "Play" will make a player appear and the video will start.
6) Right click on the video if needed to access the additional player controls.
7) Resize the player as needed by whatever page zoom method you normally use.
