The archive.org website is broken under Pale Moon, making it nearly impossible to do a search for archived pages.

Error in console:

Code: Select all

XML Parsing Error: no root element found

Seems like they have jumped on the "CustomElements" (i.e. Google WebComponents) train, which kinda screws over the styling of the page.

Although https://archive.org/ front page styling is corrupted... a click on 'Search' area in top RH corner will still open the 'Advanced Search' page which has a normal simple search box top right. Type in that and you are back to the usual Wayback Machine search page AFAICS?

Current 'archive.org' front page

The https://web.archive.org/ address still opens 'Internet Archive/Wayback Machine' normally. :)

Easier IMO to bookmark Wayback Machine simple search page directly: https://archive.org/search.php

Or for searching web addresses directly (old Firefox Addons & Mozilla articles, etc.): https://archive.org/web/web.php

I've sent them an email, received the generic "mainstream browsers" response:

Thanks for your feedback. We generally only explicitly support the mainstream browsers. Many aspects of the site do rely on Javascript.

Thanks for using archive.org

Archive of the web that only works in the latest corporate browsers using the latest draft specs.

Something doesn't seem right about this.
