As someone else mentioned earlier in this thread, Imgur is setting two cookies (named "postpagebeta" and "frontpagebetav2"), but the "disable beta" link only changes the value of the first one, "postpagebeta". Both cookies have to be set to 0 in order to fix this problem. I tried extensions and other work-arounds but nothing worked.
Today I was able to use this program:
https://sqlitebrowser.org/dl/
to edit the
cookies.sqlite file and set both cookies to zero and now Imgur works again.

As
mentioned earlier, the extension
CookieKeeper worked great for me (see that other post for its link), plus allows to protect individual cookies, for those who otherwise like to delete them.
(And AFAIK
Cookies Manager+ can also edit cookies - though haven't used this one myself.)
People should also note two additional workarounds from the preceding page:
1. a userscript to manage the "beta-cookie" values,
posted by
krystian3w;
2. and an extension,
DumCred by
RealityRipple that provides an alternate workaround, mentioned in his
post here.

Peculiar, since several alternatives were suggested that worked for multiple other people.
Maybe you're doing something fundamentally wrong in your use of Pale Moon. Maybe it isn't the best kind of browser for you?

Installs with no problem here on the linked page, after clicking the blue "install" button that says "Install DumCred v1.0".
Also using PM 29.4.3.

Try right-clicking and hitting "Save Link As...", then dragging the XPI file into your browser.

I use uBO + EasyPrivacy, and have no problems either installing the extension or saving the .xpi.

Confirmed.
However if one disables scripting, saving won't work irrespective of extensions or filter lists.

On that note... if you are still expecting websites to work with scripting disabled in 2022, then you need to re-evaluate your understanding of the internet.

And now .... Imgur suddenly works again. The frustrating part is, I have no idea what fixed it.
But, it is nice to know that you don't give a shit about the people who use your browser.
