Palemoon does not allow the dark mode on this site (sapo.pt)

This site https://www.sapo.pt/ is where i read the news daily and a few months ago they put the function of showing the site in dark or light mode or this function is automatic according to the way it is being used in the operating system (in my case windows 10).
To connect this function there is a button with the three options on the home page, but in the Pale Moon this button disappears almost immediately after entering the home page and does not allow to control this functionality. The problem that I mentioned does not happen in other browsers (Firefox, Edge, Opera). I send you some screen prints made at Pale Moon and Firefox to see the problem. In the Firefox image the button to select the dark mode I made a red mark around it to see how this button is.
I have already tried disable all the Add-ons of Pale Moon, but the problem remains.
Is there any changes that I can do in the configuration of Pale Moon and solve these problems?

It appears to be a user agent string issue.
When the compatibility setting is "Firefox Compatibility" (the default value), the buttons disappear and the reported error message is printed in the console.
"Native" and "Gecko Compatibility" display the buttons and it is also possible to change color theme. The buttons are there even when disabling the site's scripts when using the working user agent settings.

They may be assuming based on UA that the preferred color scheme is in control.. Which we do have now. Try setting it to dark in Preferences and see if it responds accordingly.

Regardless of the user agent compatibility mode being selected, telling websites that dark colors are preferred, from the browser's preference window, will result in the site changing its theme to a dark one.
In case of "Native" and "Gecko" modes, the in-site theme (i.e. the "disappearing" buttons) must be set to "Auto" to provide the same effect (obviously.)
Basically, the preferred color scheme is always checked, but buttons are displayed only when the site thinks the browser doesn't support this feature.
