Outdated Browser - can't log in to online.trustonefinancial.org

Unread post by njren » 2021-05-21, 19:34

Sometime in early April my financial institution changed something on their end and Pale Moon became an "outdated broswer". Until that time there was never any issue. Currently using Windows 7 Pro 64 and Pale Moon 29.1.1 64.

Navigating all the sections of the main site here still works fine, only after entering my username and attempting to log in did I get to this page:
Outdated 01_cr.jpg
The download link on that page is dead.

I tried to add some useragent code after digging around on the forum for ideas:

Code: Select all

general.useragent.override.trustonefinancial.org;Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:88.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/88.0
and then I got this page:
Outdated 02_cr.jpg
Now the download link works and takes you to the Firefox site, but obviously I still cannot log in. I tried entering different Firefox version numbers in the code, but no effect.

I asked in person at a branch and later by phone about the changes but got nowhere. A customer service rep finally did forward me an email reply he received from the IT/digital banking group...and please don't shoot the messenger here :silent:

Firefox and Chrome do work, and of course I can use them for my needs, but curious if there's anything else the 0.02% might try. Thank you for any ideas.

I'm not sure what you expect us to do about boneheaded web devs who basically deny you service based on your choice of browser.
There's a difference between not providing support and flat-out refusing service as they do.
Stating "security measures" as a reason for this refusal is also quite ridiculous considering Pale Moon's security levels are equal or above their preferred browsers.

Sorry, I didn't expect anything except maybe "try changing your useragent code to..." or "there's nothing to be done on this side so keep trying your institution". Clearly it's the latter. Thanks.

Perhaps someone can figure out exactly what their browser check is but even so they will have to change it. I just haven't had time to analyse their web check or how it could potentially be circumvented.
User agent identification is not a magic wand to bypass all of this bad behaviour. It may or may not work; YMMV.

Don't bother with user agent, it's javascript check:

Code: Select all

<script>window.imprt_=a=>import(a)</script>
<script>if(!('imprt_' in window))location.href='/browser-support.html'</script>
My javascript knowledge is stuck a bit in the past, but it's checking for something called dynamic import. Simply put, it's too new.

Confirmed.. Dynamic Import of ES Modules which we don't support yet.

Code: Select all

Timestamp: 5/29/2021 10:17:42 PM
Error: SyntaxError: expected expression, got keyword 'import'
Source File: https://online.trustonefinancial.org/
Line: 1, Column: 17
Source Code:
window.imprt_=a=>import(a)
