Fix for youtube on latest version for Windows 64 bit Palemoon
Hi all,
I had problems with youtube not loading, probably due to a 'TypeError: window.customElements is undefined' error.
After some google-fu I found the following fix:
change
general.useragent.override.youtube.com
from:
Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.0
to:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:60.9) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/60.9
I found the fix through some possibly unrelated other issue:
https://github.com/Financial-Times/poly ... r/issues/7
No idea of any of that is relevant, but thought I'd share it as well.
Might as well have been a lucky shot, not a webdev / browserdev
I suppose Windows NT 6.1 can be generalized to %OS_SLICE%, but what do I know...
This worked for me and I thought I'd share it here.

I still don't understand why people are having this issue -- YouTube is displaying just fine here with the default override that has been in place for quite a while. No matter if I'm logged in or out, etc. -- It's weird that a .9 would work and a .0 not, unless they are making .9 perhaps "unknown" now to serve fallback code? But then that would still not explain why my default override works.

Youtube works for me with the default "general.useragent.override" since it was implemented, no matter what Pale Moon updates.

After reading this topic thread, I switched over to my (although I don't use it very much anymore since the operating system has reached end of life) 64 bit Windows 7 hard drive and 64 bit windows Pale Moon 28.16.0 has no problems when I'm visiting YouTube using the default setting for YouTube.

Re: Fix for youtube on latest version for Windows 64 bit Palemoon
FWIW, the first time I went to youtube after installing 28.16 it did act weird. First it didn't want to load the video, then it started playing it in a little box at the bottom right of the screen. Finally after clicking around a bit, it started working as usual, and has been working since.
Youtube has been loading (I mean youtube pages, not videos) somewhat slowly, i.e., it freezes a few seconds, before it finally does load. It's been doing this since at least version 28.15.

Same. I think the new YouTube has always been sluggish with Pale Moon. Is there anything that could be done to prevent it?

Re: Fix for youtube on latest version for Windows 64 bit Palemoon
That is not what I am experiencing at all; Youtube pages and videos load very fast for me, it's surprising to me just how fast it is with all the stuff they want to
load on, and I also have no problems with ram usage (remains nominal) using Pale Moon with many YT, Bitchute, and other tab/pages loaded.
I certainly don't need a "fix". *shrugs
