Mobile view?
I use the latest version of Pale Moon on Linux Mint 20 with the following extensions
Theme: Fox2 the moon 4.6.0
No plugins
Extensions:
Moonscribe
Decentraleyes
Open With
Pure URL
ScriptBlock
Search Image Everywhere
SearchLoad Options Revived
Toolbar Buttons
uBlock Origin
Cookie permissions button
On this site: https://www.theicon.org.uk/
The home page loads into what looks like a mobile view. This happens in Pale moon even in safe mode. The same happens in Basilisk which has no extensions or themes added. This started maybe a month or so back.
Its all still readable, just not a desktop view..
On my ipad however the page loads correctly with both Safari and the DuckDuckgo browser.
Any ideas how I can revert back to non-mobile view?

Re: Mobile view?
Useragent sniffing at work. Possibly they are still using some (older versions of) a detection library that doesn't like our "Goanna" slice.
Workaround:
Create the following preference in about:config :
And use the following value for it:
Solution:
Contact the website owners and inform them of the mobile misdetection, so they can fix their site.
Workaround:
Create the following preference in about:config :
Code: Select all
general.useragent.override.theicon.org.uk
Code: Select all
Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0
Contact the website owners and inform them of the mobile misdetection, so they can fix their site.

Re: Mobile view?
Thankyou.
That worked. I'll contact the site asap.
I used the SSUA extension to achieve this as I couldn't figure out a way of creating a new preference whilst in about:config. Searching the web didn't help much at all.
How do you go about it with out SSUA?

Re: Mobile view?
Was that Sasuga?
- Open about:config (Type about:config in the address bar and hit Enter)
- Right-click anywhere on the page to open the context menu and select New -> String
- In the box that opens, enter: general.useragent.override.theicon.org.uk
- Hit "OK"
- In the next box that opens, enter: Mozilla/5.0 (%OS_SLICE% rv:79.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/79.0
- Hit "OK" again, then you're done.

Re: Mobile view?
That extension was created exactly to help those that don't know how to use about:config.
No need to be embrassed and it's actually better if you use sasuga instead of about:config. After all, hic sunt dracones.
