YouTube videos no longer resume in 28.11.0
This is something I can live with, but I don't think this is intentional.
For a few years now, YT had a resume feature, where a video of extra length (>20 min) would resume from the spot you stopped, as long as you are logged in. You all probably know about the feature, but just making it clear. DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE.
It could be YT, it could be Pale Moon.
I am using the community Mac build.

Works great and I don't even mess around with UA overrides for youtube.

Re: YouTube videos no longer resume in 28.11.0
FWIW, I watch some YouTube videos that are over 2 hours long. Sometime I get a phone call while I'm watching the video so I pause the video, then talk on the phone. Some of these calls last about 25 minutes of time. After I hang up the phone, I resume the video and it starts playing again where I left off of from.
I can do the same thing by pausing the video, then letting the computer go to sleep after 30 minutes of time. Then I can "wake" the computer, resume playing the video where I paused it from without any problems.
At this time, I'm using 64 bit linux Pale Moon 28.11.0 running in 64 bit linux Mint 20 (Ulyana) Xfce.

Cleared all cookies, restarted, problem is still there.
I can pinpoint with decent accuracy that last week this was not happening. The thumbnail shows me how much I watched, but when I start the video, it does NOT resume from that point.

I think he is talking about the problem with the feature where you "leave" the video in between and navigate away from it, but when you return to the same video, let's say by clicking the thumbnail in your YouTube watch history, you are taken to the exact same spot you left from.Night Wing wrote: ↑2020-07-25, 20:34I can do the same thing by pausing the video, then letting the computer go to sleep after 30 minutes of time. If you have your Youtube Video History disabled or are blocking certain scripts and api calls then it will not remember where you were.

Re: YouTube videos no longer resume in 28.11.0
Well, from what it looks like YT is updating its UI again, and things are more broken and laggy. Will see what happens in a few days.
EDIT: deleted YT and Google cookies, YouTube is less broken now, still a little laggy, and videos still do not remember your stopping position. I disabled nMatrix as a test, that is not the cause. PureURL is not causing it either. The only extensions I run that can block anything at all are nMatrix, PureIRL, and uBlock Origin.
Must be on YouTube's side, or the latest Mac build, or 28.11.0 (somehow).

Re: YouTube videos no longer resume in 28.11.0
On YT's end, some videos now automatically change the URL to include the timestamp from last time. Not a full fix, but I guess SOMETIME resuming works.

Re: YouTube videos no longer resume in 28.11.0
This will be VERY useful, but I regressed to the prior version of New Moon (Mac community build), and the YT issue is gone! As a matter of fact, YT in general not does not (on occasion) put the CPU into >100% overdrive. Some videos are still broken, but at least half the time the issue is gone.
Therefore, this is a 28.11.0 issue (Mac build at least).

I also noticed that after updating to PM 28.11, the video timestamp is no longer correctly managed. When a video is fully watched in PM now, it will not mark the video as "watched" but instead has the timestamp of 0 in the URL (&t=0s in the URL). This also seems to happen when closing a tab with a video which is somewhere else in the playback.

The red marked videos are all watched till the end with PM. All of them have the &t=0s at the end. The green one was watched on a mobile device till the end.
This started happening after I updated to 28.11 recently.

It is highly unlikely a specific version of Pale Moon namely point 11 was responsible.

I think you might be right. After some testing, I found that EasyPrivacy in Adblock Latitude had a block filter rule "||youtube.com/api/stats/watchtime" which seem to be blocking this exact thing. After applying a exception rule like "@@||youtube.com/api/stats/watchtime?*" it worked fine again.
Sorry for the trouble but maybe this helps someone else.

Re: YouTube videos no longer resume in 28.11.0
That looks like a solution! Now I have to figure out how to do that in Ublock and/or nMatrix.Blocki wrote: ↑2020-08-03, 23:21I think you might be right. EDIT: whitelisting that URL in UBO did nothing. I feel like I'm doing it wrong somehow.
2nd EDIT: deleting all cookies (and everything else) several times, quitting and restarting helped with at least 1 video to be recognized and resumed from the proper position.

Re: YouTube videos no longer resume in 28.11.0
Disabling uBlock Origin's EasyPrivacy ruleset (UBo > Settings > Filter Lists > uncheck EasyPrivacy) fixes the issue. It might be a nuke for a fly, but there was a lot of youtube related stuff in that list.
Thanks to Blocki for hinting at a direction to look.
