I've tried all of the Win 7 and youtube settings I can find and nothing is working. Any ideas on repair?

1) Please provide a link to a video where this happens (yes, do this even if it happens "everywhere" for you).

2) And please post a screenshot to make it clear to others what you see.

3) Are you logged into YouTube when this happens, or not? Or is it both?

4) Do you use any extensions or userscripts related to YouTube?

5) Are you using newer YouTube (Polymer v1), or are you forcing the older, classic YouTube (by means of a site specific user agent override, or in the alternative a userscript)?

6) Related to #5, type about:config in the address bar and hit Enter.
If you see a warning, click that you promise to be careful, and filter on general.useragent.override.youtube.com
Copy the value for that preference that's in the far right column and post it here.

7) In about:config, filter on browser.fullscreen.autohide
Is the value of that preference true or false ?
(If false, reset it to true, the default.)

Your welcome. Very glad you worked it out.
About the flipping back/forth: what's important is to refresh the YouTube page after changing the setting.

Concerning your UA override for YouTube...

To make YouTube work as well in Pale Moon as is possible, I strongly encourage you to kindly reset that value to its default. (Select the preference, right-click, choose "Reset") Presenting yourself to YouTube as using old Chrome could have unforseen very bad effects, since Pale Moon is not Chrome and functions quite differently.

Hey, took me awhile sorry about that. I made the change you suggested and the description now seems more appropriate. DuckDuckGo still thinks I'm using chrome but everything seems to be working great . Thanks again.

Glad you did that.

Are you using a global user agent override?
And did you modify any other of the built-in site-specific user agent overrides to match the global one?

If you did, please reset all of them back to their default vallues so they can do the job they were created for.

I'm familiar with the user agent setting in palemoon advanced. That was set to firefox compatible. I visited what's my browser .com and they gave me a surprising reading. They say I am using Chrome 57 on Windows 8.1. totally wrong ( pm 28.12 and windows 7) I'm not sure where the global agent over rides are, I'll keep looking.

All of the general.useragent.override choices in about:config now read either mozilla, firefox or palemoon plus gecko or goanna. I tried to reset a couple but the reset option is faded out and not working.

And THAT would have been due to a global override.

You didn't mention what you found, but for info if a global override is present in about:config (and if an extension is involved, it may or may not be present there) the preference is general.useragent.override without specifying a domain.

This could have been added manually, or else by an extension. If you use an extension that you think added this, you should get rid of it.

If any of these are bolded and the status says user set, it means that you at some point changed them, and they should be able to be reset. (If a bolded entry cannot be reset, that would be a problem.)

On the other hand, any entry that is not bolded has its default value, and the "Reset" option would properly be greyed out.
The status column would, of course, say "default".

There is no preference called general.useragent.override And all of the other general.useragent.overrides are set to default. I think that has it. Thanks again for your help.

There are extensions that can institute a global override in a way that does not display in about:config .

Again, you never did mention what you did to correct the information that whatismybrowser.com displays about your setup of Pale Moon. But if you happen to be using some extension that gives websites false information about the browser, please do get rid of it.
