YouTube thumbnails

When I load the YouTube homepage, the thumbnails used to show up fast, but now there's some sort of delay. I see placeholders for the thumbnails for a few seconds.

Can you increase the priority of image acquisition?

If the site has implemented lazy loading, not something that the browser can fix.

With some YouTube page loads video thumbnail images do not show up at all. No placeholders, just an empty space. This happens pretty frequently with the new YouTube design.

It's a shame that they won't support a legacy version. I preferred the old way with faster page loads.

Hold on.

The latest Firefox on an old computer with an Intel i3 opened the youtube homepage faster than Pale Moon on a Ryzen.

What's going on? Is there some kind of optimization available with the newer youtube layout?

Has more to do with Google services being optimized for their browser, its derivatives and its wannabe copycats.
