this is no error per se, but as of yesterday, Google (search) is sending me some "basic" version of their website that is meant for TVs, set top boxes and older devices, rather than the standard one.
I can provide screenshots or more info if necessary.
additionally, it removes &udm=14 from my search string.
just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and/or if there is a workaround to fix their sabotaging.
thank you.

Did a search just now via udm14 (using Basilisk), seems fine.

Re: Google sends basic markup all of sudden
I suppose it could be a palemoon issue? Maybe?
Btw, I recommend using startpage or something else.
Google will give you a headache likely if you use it.
Startpage uses google's searches but strips away its crappy tracking and/or malware risk as well.

Check your user-agent compatibility settings, or if you've set a site-specific user-agent override for Google. Google is notorious for user-agent sniffing; only Firefox Compatibility mode (or a Firefox/128.0 with 128.0 being the minimum in the user-agent string) will make them send the "modern" version.

Re: Google sends basic markup all of sudden
thanks for the ideas and suggestions everyone
it just baffles me this was necessary despite the fact that I didn't change anything before this started happening.
thank you, this is how I solved it, by overriding ua for google only.jobbautista9 wrote: ↑2025-11-15, 03:14Check your user-agent compatibility settings, or if you've set a site-specific user-agent override for Google. I'm fine with basic markup,if anything,it reminds me of 2000s-2010s Google although with the "actually scaled for desktop partially" mobile search interface when you search...
