Google Sheets no longer working, black rectangle, alert dialog

Unread post by nmalinoski » 2024-08-12, 16:23

Within the past few days, Google Sheets has become inaccessible. The header, toolbar, and function bar will load, but, instead of the spreadsheet displaying, there's just a small, black rectangle. The following console errors and one warning (the last item) occur, and the site pops an alert that says "A server error occurred. Please press 'Reload' in your browser.":

Code: Select all

Content Security Policy: Couldn’t process unknown directive ‘require-trusted-types-for’
(unknown)

Content Security Policy: Ignoring “'unsafe-inline'” within script-src: ‘strict-dynamic’ specified
(unknown)

Content Security Policy: Ignoring “https:” within script-src: ‘strict-dynamic’ specified
(unknown)

Content Security Policy: Ignoring “http:” within script-src: ‘strict-dynamic’ specified
(unknown)

NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED:
2077684337-waffle_js_prod_core.js:1921
Hitting OK results in another alert dialog that reads "This error has been reported to Google and we'll look into it as soon as possible. Please reload this page to continue.", and triggers these additional errors:

Code: Select all

Content Security Policy: Ignoring ‘x-frame-options’ because of ‘frame-ancestors’ directive.
(unknown)

Content Security Policy: Couldn’t process unknown directive ‘require-trusted-types-for’
(unknown)

Content Security Policy: Ignoring “'unsafe-inline'” within script-src: nonce-source or hash-source specified
(unknown)
Hitting OK again triggers the following warning (first one) and errors, then brings back the initial "A server error occurred. ..." dialog:

Code: Select all

uncaught exception: CustomError: Error in protected function: Class$obf_1037: One of the milestone managers callbacks threw an exception, disabling the manager permanently
(unknown)

(unknown)

Content Security Policy: Ignoring “'unsafe-inline'” within script-src: ‘strict-dynamic’ specified
(unknown)

Here's a Modify HTTP Response workaround.

Code: Select all

[["/waffle_js_prod_ritzmain\\.js$/",["=a.getTransform(),e=C8g(a,D8g());a.setTransform(d)",",e=C8g(a,D8g())"]]]]
It worked with the sheet I tested, I don't guarantee it will work with all sheets; it may also break after an update.

Attempting this fix in WF Classic gives me this error:

Oops, sorry.

Code: Select all

[["docs.google.com",["/waffle_js_prod_ritzmain\\.js$/",["=a.getTransform(),e=C8g(a,D8g());a.setTransform(d)",",e=C8g(a,D8g())"]]]]

I'm prioritizing this, will tackle Issue #1810 (UXP) in the coming days that should address the getTransform/setTransform issue with a DOMMatrix.

Didn't do much for me, and no obvious error in the console.

If they are not using google.com but a localized google domain, then the filter needs to be adjusted.

That UXP issue is tagged for 33.4.0, which according to the release engineering page is scheduled to be released on Oct. 8th.

Is it that hard to use a different browser in the meantime?
