On my PM 32.4 (also 32.1) , google tima go began detecting a non compatible browser, and loading mode compatible HTML page without classification tabs.
My preferences are set to Firefox and my current useragent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/116 but I tried others before without success.
Gmail redirects to:
https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/h/
Is there any way to force a gmail UI?

I can't reproduce that. I open GMail from this bookmark https://mail.google.com/ with the default compatibility user agent (I never fiddle with user agents), and it always goes direct to the modern interface.

Reset your useragent. It doesn't even make sense (rv:36.0 but Firefox version at 116?)

you are right, it worked after a"reset UA" from UA status extension

Not exactly same issue, but same cause, I was seeing obsolete google searches, affected images worst.
When I changed it, it was a fix to some issue, or other, but I can't remember what that was now.
FYI, in Preferences > Advanced >General
Firefox Compatibility is default
As you was already in about:config, it's this setting, and it shows user set, and makes text Bold
general.useragent.compatMode
Resetting that, changes three settings, you can even watch it change in about:config, when you change preferences.
