Image
this site used to work fine in uxp browsers and it still works to some extent, but the sidebars and files section on pages for individual mods are now broken, which understandably limits functionality on a site dedicated to... hosting mods. i haven't bothered learning javascript yet but looking at the console tells me everything i need to know. i don't have an account there atm and i don't know where to scream at the site owners but i'll make a mental note to do that

i understand this won't be fixed unless the site maintainers change something or uxp gets support for these things added, i just thought it was worth noting that more and more sites are mindlessly adopting brand new javascript features and it's becoming a bit obnoxious, to say the least. (it works fine in firefox, but let's just say that that's a last resort at best)

It's because of frameworks (including backend frameworks) and their templating engines.
There are very few places where these things are not used or used sparsely, so once you get a certain feature inside them, it spreads to the rest of the web like poison.

And before the discussion degenerates: I'm not advocating against frameworks, because there are a million plus one reasons why it's good to have them around (regardless if a developer wants to use them or not). I'm just saying that most of the time developers really can not or even do not know how to fix or make do without these things, because everything is handled by the framework and complaining to the site owners can do only so much, if anything at all.

I am advocating against them because they are almost all either Google Controlled or Google sympathizers and their poison spreads through the web like a plague.

spontaneously checked the site a few days later and it seems to be working fine now, at this point i can't tell if i just hallucinated it or if whatever was responsible for breaking it actually got fixed/rolled back
