There was no need to quote the entire damn post including screenshot

Re: Borealis Navigator Pre-Release Thread
Been testing the GTK3 build of this on Linux and it is amazing! It is so snappy and just a pleasure to use. There are a few features I would like to have, but they aren't important right now, I'll request them when the time is right. Tobin is doing a great job with this piece of software!
I have installed EH, AB Prime and pureURL from the PM addons site and they work as expected.

Re: Borealis Navigator Pre-Release Thread
What features do you want? Also, do note that Phoebus and other infra work blocks Borealis aside from the Borealis blockers them selves. I am also likely going to bump the version before I release it.
Re: Borealis Navigator Pre-Release Thread
Hi Tobin,
I don't want to sound like a spoiled brat in requesting these, so please ignore them if they are unreasonable or difficult to incorporate, so my wishlist for Borealis:
1) The tabs on top
2) Clear history button or a show history button [the keybinding (Ctrl+Shift+Del) doesn't work?]
3) Show sidebar button (there is probably an extension for this?)
4) Reader view (also an addon that can fix this?)

Re: Borealis Navigator Pre-Release Thread
The shortcut key will be looked at. If it exists and is broken it will be fixed, if not I don't know what functionality you are refering to.
Tabs on top ain't going to happen because of the way the UI is constructed. The tabstrip is NOT a toolbar like in Pale Moon (and Firefox 4+). Anything that tried to mangle it would be a monsterous hack AT BEST. It would be like trying to do it with Firefox 1.5/2's UI. So moz-orient and a touch of css ain't gonna be enough especially seeing how the tabstrip is physically connected and part of tge tabbedbrowser binding not a disconnected and renotely controlled element.
I mention Firefox 1.5/2.0 because hat is basically what the UI structure was loosely inspired and constructed like during the conversion from xpfe to toolkit back when SeaMonkey had true development and a team that gave a shit. Yes, an extension could do it but it would be non-trivial and I for sure ain't going to encurage it.
The rest can be provided by extensions simply for the reason that there is no artwork for said buttons. Netscape never made any.

Hi Tobin,
Thanks for the feedback. The tabs on top is definitely not deal breaker, and from what you have said, sounds like a massive task.
How easy would theming be for Borealis?

I really wish that wasn't as depressingly accurate as it is. Shame that those days are long gone.New Tobin Paradigm wrote: ↑2021-05-28, 13:29

Re: Borealis Navigator Pre-Release Thread
Some more feedback (Linux GTK3 build):
1) The Ctrl+Shift+Del shortcut for delete personal data works. I guess I was expecting some sort of confirmation that command was executed successfully?
2) Mouse middle click pastes clipboard content into tab instead of closing tab?

That is an old ass linux default I need to change. It is one of the middlemouse prefs.
Re: Borealis Navigator Pre-Release Thread
Just use F9 to toggle the sidebar. It's even mentioned as a shortcut when you look at View->Sidebar.

Stick around for an incoming screenshot in the next less than an hour or so.
Re: Borealis Navigator Pre-Release Thread
The tabstrip is still shitty but it Qute is much better than the garbage icons SeaMonkey came up with. And yeah, they have all four icon states exactly like Ryan's Qute 4 theme. Though not done with fancy css. CBA to rewrite the entire skin at this time
