I do get decent uptimes, but it's hard to say the real numbers. Because you can sleep / hibernate Windows, leave the PC be for decades and then the uptime will appear as it's been on for this entire time.

Though I can't leave using the same session idefinitely, things get slower with time, Explorer's memory usage increases with time, eventually it's best to log off for things to clear up.

You do realize you can attach images/screenshots to posts, right? that way it remains self-contained in the forum, doesn't require people to deal with bloated image+ads websites, and will not expire the image.

Well, what do I know? It's not unheard of other forums' admins then complaining about forum database getting bloated.

In the Windows 7 days, I would always put the computer into sleep mode overnight. I would have maintained this habit in Linux if not for the mild headaches incurred upon waking the system. I recall experiencing no instability or other oddities as weeks or months passed.

To me, Pale Moon still being alive all these years is a triumph. And it works better than ever.

That's great. What's the goal of the talk?

I keep dozens or hundreds of irons in the fire at any given time, and take years or decades to finish many things, so almost everything I finish feels like a triumph (but I do finish what I start, which in many ways is a kind of a curse I live with).

My latest few triumphs are:

1) Begin and finish implementing proper forum search for the web forum software I develop (~5 weeks of work):
https://www.sr20-forum.com/server-news/ ... st!1054807

2) Begin and finish implementing forum thread subscriptions for the web forum software I develop (~6 weeks of work, includes our first asynch jobs):
https://www.sr20-forum.com/server-news/ ... st!1054921

3) Begin and finish hosting a proof-of-concept Ruby on Rails web application on NFSN and write the wiki documentation for how to do so.

4) Begin and finish a relatively simple Ruby on Rails web application that hosts some jokes I wrote over the course of ~3 years (footer has a shout-out to Pale Moon).

5) Fix a long-standing bug in the Redmond theme provided with gtk2-engines:

I got laid off 2 years ago* and it's been absolutely insane trying to get a new web development job so I've had lots of time to address my 13-year deep To-Do list. I've taken care of lots of other little things that probably aren't worth mentioning. I do need to get back to some ground-breaking automotive modification stuff though, so I guess I'll go do that.

*Which explains my lack of recent donations to this project. I expect to turn on the fire hose once I get a job.

I've said it plenty of times before: never feel bad about not having the means to support this project. Last thing I want is for people to prioritize the project over their own finances. Have trouble with the frequency or amount you donate to the project? Just stop; no need to justify or explain. Take care of yourself first and don't feel you have an obligation. Donations are supposed to be given out of a desire to help, not due to pressure or some sense of it being obligatory or expected.

Realizing who I was after having no clue for almost 44 years and finally starting to live was certainly a win at life I will never come even remotely close to repeating in any area.

I finally found out what was the issue behind one of the most annoying web compatibility issues in this engine. Not fully dealt with yet, but I’m so relieved I finally know what the culprit is.

Details remain hazy for now, but I understand it should be an hour-long talk for older adults to introduce them to open-source software, presumably as an alternative to mainstream, proprietary software. It should be given sometime this (northern) autumn. When I have more details, I would be happy to discuss them here also.

Please do, I'm interested :) .

To stay on topic, I finally learned how to use Inkscape, following this manual. It surprised me how good this software is. And it doesn't require a monthly subscription.
