Project VORAPIS broken again?

Unread post by UCyborg » 2025-04-26, 08:44

How does YouTube work through Project VORAPIS for the others these days? I visited YouTube and videos just stop playing with an error after couple of seconds. Same on Firefox.

Google being Google and messing around with stuff. Again. This time with stream encoding or something.

You should join their discord where devs comment on issues and announce updates.

I hate Discord...

BTW, the old thread was actually in the General discussion section, but locked, so made new one, but someone moved it here...

Oh well...

Jeez, the lagging on stock YouTube is insane, even typing into search box is delayed.

I've noticed that clicking the 'install as userscript' link on the download page does nothing.

Probably because of the ASAR implementation. FreeTube doesn't work either. But mpv-yt-dlp works.

The button uses JavaScript. Does not work in some browsers.

It used to - it is meant to trigger a userscript manager install. Greasemonkey for PM in this case.

Looks like they changed it to use that weird "create a link element on the fly but don't insert it in the document then script a simulated click on it" which, because of the non-attached "limbo" nature of the element, isn't processed.
