Re: Do you own a car?
Just wondering why you keep making threads asking everyone about their personal life/location/possessions? I mean, I have no issue humouring 1 or 2 of those "just curious..." questions, but this is becoming a little weird now.

Re: Do you own a car?
My wife drives a 4 door 2011 year model Toyota Camry.
I drive a 2001 year model Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab, not a King Cab, pickup truck with a 6' bed. Drop the tailgate down till it is horizontal and it gives me 8' of flat space. Easy for me to put a sheet of 8'x4'x4' sheet of plywood "between" the wheel wells and the sheet of plywood lays "flat".
Since I have four standup paddleboards ranging in length from 8'11" to 11'1", I also lay the tailgate down when I need to haul my two 10'5" sups along with my 11'1" sup on top of them in the bed of my truck.
Both vehicles are gasoline powered ICE's (internal combustion engines). If I have to replace either vehicle, I will get another vehicle with an ICE engine. I will never buy any electric vehicles since EV's are not practical (for me).

Re: Do you own a car?
Probably because I'm bored. Sorry if my topics came as a little off. Won't be starting any anytime soon.

Re: Do you own a car?
Off-topic:
Aw, shucks.
I was just getting interested in some of the topics which aren't computer related or deal with Pale Moon. I know there is a topic in this OT forum which dealt with Left/Right "disinformation".
After all, there isn't a sheriff in this forum. People were smart enough to not take the job. And it wouldn't bother me if this forum was just a little bit of "The Wild West" so to speak.

Never had a car, nor a driving license, and the same for my parents.

Re: Do you own a car?
I don't own a vehicle anymore. A while ago I lived in Washington, DC and I didn't need a vehicle. A two-week at a time Metro pass and that city's great Metro system, with buses and subway trains, met my travel needs.

Re: Do you own a car?
No, I don't own one. I rely on public transportation, family members, and ridesharing services to get around.
It's sort of awkward, because I always have to do one of three things... plan to take an hour or two to get from point A to point B if I use public transportation, inconvenience family members and wait on them to be able to pick me or drop me off, or else call a ridesharing service which is the most expensive option but also the most convenient and reliable.

"The Athenians, however, represent the unity of these opposites; in them, mind or spirit has emerged from the Theban subjectivity without losing itself in the Spartan objectivity of ethical life. With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

Re: Do you own a car?
I am an absolute automotive fanatic, and I own 4 very specific, quirky, German money pits. I have spent WAAAAAY too much time and money on the hobby, and can't wait to pour more into it. I have extremely detailed "build" threads documented for them (and past cars) on web forums, and I own/operate/develop an online automotive web forum myself.

Re: Do you own a car?
My reaction time, peripheral vision and focus are too poor to drive. This is why I like central Europe.

I was wondering why there were so many posts here after having stepped away for a week.

Re: Do you own a car?
Living in the countryside means you need your own vehicle if you want to do anything.
For example, even to this day I still have trouble conceptualizing a city public transportation because I'm used to four bus runs a day at most. I also have trouble with large train stations as another example: the closest to me has two railways with its own direction, so if you need to go, say, east you take one, west the other; I'm not used to having to wait until they announce where the train you need to take is.

Re: Do you own a car?
I try to go 6-9 months out of each year where I don't drive almost at all and I just walk, ride my bicycle, or jump on one of the local trains. I've learned a ton about going partially car free from bikeforums.net, an invaluable resource. My dream is to someday go completely car free, and I'm envious of those of you who do live car free.
I like these kinds of forum topics. Now that Pale Moon 'just works', there's not as much technical stuff to talk about.

Being car free is the dream, but my conditions do not allow for it, so I have to own a car and drive quire frequently.

Re: Do you own a car?
Unfortunately living in a rural area/rural state in the USA basically necessitates owning a car, so yes. Thankfully the area that I live in rarely has much traffic, although it does snow quite a bit in winter.
I have no interest in being car-free. Being car-free would necessitate moving to a more urban area, which I would not enjoy.
I'm planning on getting an Alfa Romeo Giulia in the next year to go alongside my truck. That would leave us with three vehicles if you count my wife's SUV.

I have heard by owners they are unbelievably unreliable and even hard-core DIY auto enthusiasts are staying clear from them. Is there nothing else in the segment that you fancy?

In terms of sportier cars I've also considered a Dodge Charger or a Challenger, or maybe a Chrysler 300. In terms of luxury cars I've also looked at some Lexus models.

Re: Do you own a car?
I am actually a car detailer aka weekend warrior, and Alfa Romeos are probably one of my favourite car brands. Their cars are so beautiful! Wow.
However, my dad owned one and said you buy them new with an oil leak. And yes, reliability is not something that they are strong in, but would love to have one to drive in the summer haha.

Re: Do you own a car?
I agree, they are in my opinion some of the most beautiful cars currently produced.
If I get one it will be a secondary vehicle. I'm really tempted to splurge and get the Quadrifoglio but I don't know how my wife would feel about spending that much on a car.
