Also, yes, the default Pale Moon UI is rather old-fashioned.
In what way?
I've wondered about that, too. This verdict is related to the fact that it "looks like old Firefox". That's it and I guess it's understandable.

However, by "old-fashioned" it is often implied in articles, reviews, opinions etc. that it's worse on the whole as well, insecure, not updated etc. Heck, even less customizable!

All this is untrue of course. A good example of how "fake news" work and spread out. Take a small bit of truth, twist it and let grow disproportionately.

I don't know how to explain that Pale Moon looks old-fashioned, other than to tell you to look up the definition of old-fashioned. I also rather explicitly said that Pale Moon being somewhat old-fashioned is not a bad thing or an insult.

Phil Coulson: Oh, you are. Absolutely. We made some modifications to the uniform. I had a little design input.
Captain America: The uniform? Aren't the stars and stripes a little old-fashioned?
Phil Coulson: With everything that's happening and the things that are about to come to light, people might just need a little old-fashioned.

I'm not in love with the default Pale Moon theme look. But I changed the look with a lightweight theme and it looks better to me. The theme I use is "Moonscape". Try a lightweight theme and see if you like the new look compared to the default theme. There are plenty of them at the link below.

BTW, since I use the horizontal Bookmarks Toolbar, the Moonscape theme gives me more folders on the toolbar than the default theme does.

Ironically, I find Pale Moon’s default interface to be too modern: I prefer the Firefox 2 and 3 interfaces. Happily, Pale Moon lets me restore my mid-00s aesthetic with ease. I had used the Moonscape theme as long as I was still using Windows 7 (with its Classic theme). Since then, I have used Qute 4 to complement XP theming for Cinnamon.

When something works, and works well, and one is totally used to it, don't change it.

Even if all other things hadn't been equal, if Firefox had kept the tabs in the "right" place, or, at least, given me the choice, I might still be there. I had other issues too, but this was the visual one.

Thank you so much for Pale Moon!
