It also seems that OS support for the open image format is going to come too. Those on the Mac can see the latest Safari beta to test JPEG XL support.

This feels so vindicating (especially after my efforts to get JPEG XL working on Pale Moon and [soon] Floorp), and a bit surprising since last I checked, Apple was pushing their HEIC/HEIF format. This proves that we aren't wrong in supporting JPEG XL early on!

I'm also a preponent (as you) of the hypothesis that apple is rejecting to accept all google/mozilla bullshit as web standards.

That's sweet, good move on Apple's side, here's hoping they also continue to be a resistance to the google monopoly(sure not much, but as big tech each step is important)
