The Off-Topic area is a general community discussion and chat area with special rules of engagement.

Enter, read and post at your own risk. You have been warned!
While our staff will try to guide the herd into sensible directions, this board is a mostly unrestricted zone where almost anything can be discussed, including matters not directly related to the project, technology or similar adjacent topics.

We do, however, require that you:
  • Do not post anything pornographic.
  • Do not post hate speech in the traditional sense of the term.
  • Do not post content that is illegal (including links to protected software, cracks, etc.)
  • Do not post commercial advertisements, SEO links or SPAM posts.
We also ask that you keep strongly polarizing topics like politics and religion to a minimum. This forum is not the right place to discuss such things.
Please do exercise some common sense. How you act here will inevitably influence how you are treated elsewhere.

Comodo Forums

Unread post by Giraffe » 2023-02-14, 17:07

I've used Comodo FW and AV for many years and keep up with the forums. All of a sudden
https://forums.comodo.com/news-announce ... dback-cis/ gives 404.
https://forums.comodo.com/ does work but I can't log in.
When I first found that page it said "Welcome Back" but wouldn't take my log-in details. I can't get a reset email as the address that I used has gone catch 22.
I might have to set up another account then ask for my posts and username to be restored, if possible.
Comodo database is still being updated.

Any ideas what's going on, please?

They are using Discourse? Did they before?

Seems that it is Discourse; it was SMF.
Just thought, if I do have to open a new account I could then email a Mod. to retrieve my history.

Well discourse is known to be problematic at the moment, see recent threads.

OK, opened a new account, got the email for verification, ironically the link not only logged me in but my old p/w was automatically accepted.
I've posted to ask if my 10-years+ of posts and original username can be restored. A search for my new username brings up the old one (only username1 change) so everything is still there.
By 'eck, Discourse is bloody clumsy compared to SMF!
