Unfortunately I don't have another option. My monitor is busted and I have to use my phone. Lately I've been using another browser mentioned in this thread, Via. I miss Pale Moon and the few browser specific add-ons I use a lot. Another week or so till this smart phone bubble pops and I fall back into PC land.I try not to browse on a phone…

Kiwi Browser, because it offers the best customization from those I tested. It was also the first I believe, to accept Chrome -desktop- extensions (not all of them work - uBO does).

After trying many others, Samsung Internet (not on a Samsung phone, BTW). Performs well & has a choice of adblockers.
Forked extensions :

Unfortunately they keep pushing the useless sync with Samsung account. I say its useless because you cant sync it with pc browsers. But overall, Samsung internet still a great browser, even faster than bromite xD

There's a fairly new fennec-based browser called Mull, which claims to "enable many features upstreamed by the Tor Uplift project using preferences from the arkenfox-user.js project". Normal Firefox Android addons work, and you can go into developer mode and enable the use of the Iceraven addon collection (or any other addon collection).
F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/us.spotco.fennec_dos/
I've been using it for a bit over a month, works great, no complaints. I only go to a few sites on a phone, like to check the local weather, so my needs are simple.

Linus is clearly self-serving with his attitude there. The only thing he cares about is raking in as much cash as possible. I mean, seriously, every video he puts out now has YT ads AND in-video sponsors AND promotions of his LTT merchandise. He shouldn't be defending YT ads so much. In fact he should not be YT monetizing at all if he has merch and video sponsors. But no. Bottom line is all he cares about now.

Yeah, I agree with you here. He is definitely showing his colours, and sure, he needs the cash to run his show, but YT ads are extremely invasive and feeding the surveillance capitalism beast! The sooner people can find alternative ways to make money, the better. Contextual ads are fine, but these tracking ad, data broker bullsh*t I have a low tolerance for haha

Microsoft Edge. All my bookmarks are in there from back when I used Edge as my primary browser on desktop, and it's still my secondary browser after Pale Moon anyway.
If you're already heavily invested in Microsoft services and use Windows and Edge a lot already, you could do worse. Not saying you should be, mind you... just if you're say, an Xbox fan or you need Office, or there's some other reason you can't let go of Microsoft's ecosystem even if you know better. It's there.

"The Athenians, however, represent the unity of these opposites; in them, mind or spirit has emerged from the Theban subjectivity without losing itself in the Spartan objectivity of ethical life. With the Athenians, the rights of the State and of the individual found as perfect a union as was possible at all at the level of the Greek spirit." -- Hegel's philosophy of Mind

Back in the day I always let IE remain the default browser while I used Firefox and later Pale Moon as my main. Again for compatibility purposes and because IE was the original Chrome in terms of everyone coding for it.athenian200 wrote: ↑2022-02-09, 04:40If you're already heavily invested in Microsoft services and use Windows and Edge a lot already, you could do worse. FOSS browser (Firefox ESR based)
I don't use them very often; main line is using a DNS and IP blocklist in the router, so some sites “do not work” w/o letting them load their blubber via mobile connection.

Re: What browser do you use on mobile and why
I use an old copy of Firefox 68 developer? (I don't use it for anything serious or signing into websites) that will allow me to use some extensions that I require but the new one doesn't and seem to have their own which don't include what I want.
Adblock/Ublock (I think one of them allowed me to use my network blocklist).
I don't care so much about the adverts now as long as they are behaved. It is the excessive amounts of animations that irritate and annoy me on webpages starting from a couple of years ago.
I have a Pastebin list of the so called annoyances but it's not advert or tracking related:
https://pastebin.com/sCrFH1Rc
Moonbat was showing me some yesterday: https://filterlists.com/
StickyDucky: To hide fixed headers on scroll and reshow them at top of page (or the position they appeared). To stop great big spammy nav toolbars getting in the way over the contents and restricting it making me angry and upset as I find i can't concentrate.
Also with the new mobile chrome and Firefox, they seem to have more excessive the activating of dimming overlays over the contents that I might be trying to read by just typing in the address bar, a menu item or in browser popups/notifications?
I find it would be so much nicer like before if they just leave the contents alone.
I had to go through a whole load of about:config stuff to turn off so many things that I haven't noticed with the desktop version.
For example, one issue that took a me while to sort if type something and search, on the next page the browser will autozoom with is not what I want. Then if I select a text input form it will auto zoom. Those are things that infuriate me as assumptions are made upon me when I see perfectly well what I am doing. It seems unrelated to the auto zoom options in the settings and I don't always know what they are called to find them.
I got it pretty much working in the way I want but I still see previously typed Url's and bookmarks which i can't seem to get rid off yet.
