Re: Your Theme Song today
I've had to cut down on my prone surfing since the waves at my normal place I go surfing during the hot months of summer where I live (June, July, August) are "crappy". Even with my high performance single fin 9'3" longboard, when the waves for weeks are basically "calf high", it drastically cuts down on my surfing time during Summer.
When I was in my 20's age wise, there were "glider" surfboards which could surf calf high waves. The these boards back then usually started at 10' in length. If I had a glider, I would be the only person surfing at the beach. The waves at where I surf at during the summer months look a lot like the waves at Port Aransas, Texas. You can see those waves at the link below.
https://hdontap.com/stream/259405/the-d ... t-aransas/
So I went to my favorite haunt on the internet which is YouTube and searched for a "detailed" review for a glider surfboard. I was looking for a glider which would match my present weight of 140 lbs, 10'6" in length, around 85 liters of volume and could surf calf high waves. Most reviews give a review, but what drives me crazy is they never mention what length of fin is used.
But I did find one. It is a Bing "Glider" which is 10'6" in length and the board designer/shaper named the fin and it's length. The detailed review is below and it is quite technical.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDnnOAlbQdU
Back on point.
With that review in mind, I wanted to see if I could find a surfing video of the Glider. Glider videos are hard to find in 10'6" length since the "average" (the norm) boards are between 11' to 13' in length and the waves they can surf comfortably are calf high to chest high. But I was lucky enough to find a video of the Glider 10'6" in action and it had a nice little tune to it for the background music.
The background music is by Babe Rainbow. And this song/tune will be my song of the day.

Re: Your Theme Song today
So, I actually generated a song using AI recently... all I did was provide a prompt, and it provided a song that basically describes me and the way I've lived my life better than any song I've ever heard before.
The prompt was this: "A song about indecision, lack of internal motivation, and the years flying by without accomplishment."
The song it produced was incredible, it really felt like what a semi-talented musician friend might have created based on that prompt. It talked about that feeling of just being stuck and frittering away time, setting goals and never getting anything done, just... really captured the feeling of being me in a way that I didn't think was possible.

I like to listen to this one when I'm outside hanging out with my plants. The petunias in particular really seem to enjoy it.

Thought I would put up a short instrumental today. And I was in the mood for a little guitar twang and some saxophone. This instrumenta belowl fits the bill for me.

Since this is Halloween night, I am going to choose my favorite music video which always reminds me of Halloween. The make-up to create the ghouls in this video is top notch. Ditto for the dance choreography.
And I've always liked hearing the voice of the late actor, who did some of the narration, Vincent Price. And his laugh at the end of the video "seals the deal" for me.

Re: Your Theme Song today
Since I am a prone longboard surfer I was looking at, what else, YouTube to see if any new prone longboard surfing videos had been uploaded to YouTube. I didn't find any I was going to keep for future reference, but one video did catch my "ear". It was a ladies prone longboarding session off the Coff's Coast in Australia.
The background music to the video was a song about the state I live in, Texas, in the USA. That was totally unexpected! It is a cover song and it is very well done. I kind of liked it better than the original music by the original artist. A little less guitar "twang" in it if you get my (pardon the pun) "drift".
It took me about five minutes of time to find the exact same cover song. Best seen in full screen 1080p HD mode.
Norco Music - "Texas Sun" (Khruangbin featuring Leon Bridges cover).

Re: Your Theme Song today
One of our old and frequent customers came to the computer repair shop where I volunteer at. He just switched over to Linux Mint 22 (Wilma) Xfce (permanently) from Windows 11 and wanted to know where he could acquire a lot of old music from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's.
I asked him what type of genre music he liked. He told me rock, classic rock, soft, hard rock, county rock, oldies, motown, etc, etc, etc. I asked him how much space on a hard drive would he need. He said about 250 GB's.
I told him to acquire that amount of music in the genres he wanted was going to take a lot of time and effort (years). He told me he was retired and this endeavor was going to be his "labor of love".
I told him I have a very extensive music library in the genres he was looking for which I have accumulated over forty years. I told him my two desktop tower computers have the same identical music library in both of them and if he wanted, he could come over to my home and listen to some of the music I had.
He took me up on my offer and after listening to some of my old music at my home for a few hours, he asked me how much would it cost him to transfer my personal music library onto the two hard drives in his tower computer.
I told him, money wise, it would not cost him anything. It would be MY "labor of love". He was REAL happy with that answer. The word, "giddy" would be a very good description to describe his reaction. Long story short, my music library is now on his two SSD's in his desktop tower computer.
BTW, after listening to lots of songs from my music library, he kept going back to this one song by the band, Lord Huron. A song with a very good bass guitar in it. And the song has good lyrics in it too. With that said, this morning I (pardon the pun) "surfed" on over to YouTube, found the video for this song and this will be my theme song for today.

I find that I can relate to this feeling the song conveys of just continuing on, but feeling a bit aimless and hurried somehow.

I am sitting at my desktop computer with the window open and when I look out, I see the tall pine trees in my front yard and the other pine trees across the road where I live. I am doing a little reflection today on someone who was very close to me and has passed on. The lyrics in this song remind me of this person.

Re: Your Theme Song today
Six days and no music songs. I am going to have to rectify that.
My wife has been gone for two weeks visiting her two nieces and a great niece. She got back last night around 8:00 pm. I asked her did she have a good time. My wife said she had a great time. But she also told me she missed......."me".
This morning I was working on a customer's computer here at my home. I had some background music playing as usual when I'm working on computers. My wife came into the room where I was working and asked me how long was it going to take for me to finish. I told here about ten more minutes.
When I was through working, I told her I was going to pick a song today for the Off Topic forum in this topic thread since it has been six days without any songs. She asked me if she could pick the song for today. I said, "Sure". I told her to tell me what song she wanted to hear.
She picked this song below. But she also told me she had "ulterior motives" for choosing this song.
Teddy Swims - "Lose Control" with lyrics.

Working on PC listening to Cecilia Bartoli in full Coloratura mode in Handel's Orpheus - kept replaying that part.
Not really a theme though.

Re: Your Theme Song today
I just watched a show for school called "The Greatest Showman," and one of the songs really resonated with me. In the original show, it's about a circus ringmaster convincing a respectable playwright who seems bored and suffocated to join the circus and help him appeal to a higher class of client.
But I happened to find a cover of it that uses animations from a cartoon called Owl House, and the soldier character is actually the head of the Emperor's Golden Guard, and has a fairly comfortable life that's very regimented with little social interaction, with lots of training and studying. The girl character is part of a smaller group that opposes the Emperor's plans and hides out in the wilderness. They keep opposing each other, but somehow develop a sort of respect for each other anyway.
Overall, I just feel like this oddly reflects the dynamic between two characters I always have debating things in my own head, Althea and James. Basically, James is a British Redcoat and Althea is an American writer. James is kind of like the soldier here (he serves the Crown), and Althea is kind of like the girl, though not nearly as assertive or confident. I'm guessing Althea would be my Anima and James would be my Ego, but sometimes it seems like Althea really, really wants to take over because it seems like James is stuck in a rut and struggling to find a way forwards. I don't let her because Jung said Anima possession is bad, of course. The song feels like the best way of summing up the dynamic between them in two minutes I've ever seen. LOL.

Re: Your Theme Song today
We had a female customer come into the shop where I volunteer at. She likes music and wanted to have her music library installed in a linux Debian distro since she was coming over from Windows 11. The owner of the shop called me and asked if I would "make it happen" for her.
I left my home and was down at the shop in three minutes of driving time. To make a long story short, I finished the job. She wanted to hear one song from her music library and asked me if I had ever heard of a song by "The Weather Girls" named "It's Raining Men". I told her I think I had but I thought it was a song from the 90's.
She told me she had this song and she also had a cover song done by Geri Halliwell. I asked her to play it and she did. It has a fast beat and it can "make anyone get up and move". With a fast beat, the lyrics might be hard to hear clearly. I thought I could find this song, with it's lyrics, on YouTube and I did.
Geri Halliwell - "It's Raining Men" (Weather Girls cover).

And if you want to see the video of this song, in a parody of other movies which you will recognize if you are old as I am, the link is below. BTW, in this opening music video, Geri covers Jennifer Beals in the movie "Flashdance". And the music video is worth watching in my opinion.

I left my home and was down at the shop in three minutes of driving time. To make a long story short, I finished the job. She wanted to hear one song from her music library and asked me if I had ever heard of a song by "The Weather Girls" named "It's Raining Men". Re: Your Theme Song today
The calendar says it is still Winter. But today's temperature reached a high of 71 degrees F with the humidity at a muggy 87% where I live. I had to watch the computer repair shop where I volunteer at because the owner had to leave unexpectedly and all the other employees were on service calls to customer's homes.
Since the temperature was pleasantly warm, it was a steamy sort of warm. So I opened up the front door and left the door open to get some fresh air into the shop. And since I was alone at the shop, I thought I would play some music. On low volume of coarse, but not too low.

Re: Your Theme Song today
At the shop where I volunteer at, we have two demo computers loaded with Linux Mint. A laptop installed with Linux Mint 22.1 (Xia) Xfce and a desktop tower installed with the same. These two computers are for people who dislike Windows 11 and are looking to quit using Windows 11.
The desktop tower has a three hard drive bay it. The owner wanted to put two more SSD's in it and install two different linux distros on them to give people more choices when it comes to Linux. I installed, at this time, MX Linux 23.5 (Libretto) Xfce on one SSD and Debian 12.9 (Bookworm) Xfce on the other SSD.
We have a regular female customer, in here late 60's age wise, come into the shop a few times and she has been experimenting with Mint on the shop's tower computer. When she came in the last time, I mentioned to her I put two more SSD's in the tower and those SSD's were installed with MX and Mint.
She was intrigued and wanted to see both distros and experiment with them since she was going to be buying a new tower computer in a few months. To make a long story short, she came back to the shop three more times and bought a new tower computer. She also wanted it installed with MX Linux 23.5 and I did the deed.
I had her music library copied to a large capacity thumb drive. She came in Friday afternoon to pick up her new tower. I fired up the tower so she could see MX was working "like a well oiled machine".
But she wanted one more thing. She wanted to hear a "pop rock" genre mellow type of song from the 90's. I asked her if she had any Backstreet Boys band music in her music library. She told me she didn't and asked me if I could choose one and let her listen to it. So I hooked up our big speakers we have in the shop to her tower and chose the song below.
She really liked the song and thanked me for all the work I did for her. After that, she paid for the tower and an extra new SSD. I helped load her new tower computer into her vehicle. She again thanked me for all the help I did for her when she was in our shop. The specific song I chose for her is the one below.
Backstreet Boys - "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" (HQ)•(1996).
