Good evening.
Could you please recommend a song that could at least somewhat soothe the pain caused by the loss of someone close to you?

I'd suggest "Release" by Afro Celt Sound System. But... this will likely be a very personal question if you want something closely fitting both the one passing and the one left behind.Piotr Kostrzewski wrote: ↑2025-02-15, 18:43Good evening.

I haven't replied to this till now, but if we are talking soundtracks that suit ourselves, this would be mine:

Or at least my sillier side anyways.
On other days, it can go much more intense albeit nowhere near as intense as this:

Just for the luls I put this here.
You might say life can still be a pain though.

Re: Your Theme Song today
The weekend is just a little over eleven hours away where I live. I spent close to two hours at the computer repair shop this morning doing a few things. One of those things was hooking up one of the shop's printers to the tower computer which has three SSD's in it running three linux distros (Mint, MX Linux, Debian).
Long story short, I installed the printer driver for all three distros and printed out a test page using each distro and it worked without any problems. Then I deleted the printer driver for all three distros. I did so because the most asked about question from customers using one of the three distros above is how to make their printer communicate to their computer.
So if a customer comes in and asks how to make their computer communicate to their printer using one of the three distros, I can show them how to do it. While I was setting up the printer, I had to have some background music playing. Again, since this is Friday, I thought this song below would be appropriate.
Loverboy - "Working For The Weekend".

Re: Your Theme Song today
I ordered some veterinary prescribed kidney food; a two month supply for my almost 12 year old orange colored tiger striped tabby cat, Tucker, on Monday morning. The vet clinic called me this Tuesday afternoon telling me his food had come in.
After hanging up the phone, I went over to the vet clinic to get his food. The clinic was busy with many customers and their animals. So I waited in the lobby until it was my turn to be called on.
While I was waiting, there was some soft music playing in the lobby. I recognized the song and the band. With that said, this will be my song for the day.

Re: Your Theme Song today
Just finished doing a customer's desktop tower computer. He wanted Linux Debian 12.10 (Bookworm) Xfce on it with it completely configured the way I do with my Debian.
I did the work on his computer at my home. This called for some background music from my tower computer since I have two external monitors. A 32" and 27" monitors.
I was in the mood for a little instrumental guitar music with a catchy tune while I work and I chose this one below.
Dan "Lebo" Lebowitz, Tone Seeker - "Back In The Saddle".

Re: Your Theme Song today
Got back a little while ago from a lake standup paddleboarding session to re-acquaint myself to my two 10'5" standup paddleboards (sups). After taking a shower, I checked my emails and had an email from one of my surfing buddies.
In the email he told me he ran across a recent Australian longboard surfing video, shot from a drone with a nice song/tune to it. I took a look at the video and I liked it. And I also liked the song. So I am going to make the song in this video be my song for today.
As always the song is for those rest of you listening (and watching). And the surfing is for me. This video is best seen in 1080p60 HD and full screen mode.

Your HookTube link does not work. When I clicked on it, it states the video is unavailable. If this song is the one I'm "guessing" it is, then my YouTube link will work.

Re: Your Theme Song today
On my way home from the grocery store earlier today, I stopped in at the computer shop to pick up a SSD for one of my desktop tower computers. When I got there there was a woman with her 8 year old female child and the child was using the demo desktop tower I had set up some time ago for people to take a linux distro for a "test drive".
The desktop tower has three linux distros installed on three SSD's. She was using MX Linux 23.6 (Libretto) Xfce and she liked the distro. The owner said I was the one who set up that tower computer. The young child asked me if it was okay to hear a song using MX. I told her to navigate to YouTube and pick out a song she liked.
She asked me, "any song". And I told her, "any song you like". So she picked this one below.
Dayglow - "Can I Call You Tonight?" (Lyrics).

Zapping around today on webSDR to test something, I hit AM6130 and they played Yazoo's "Don't Go".
Real blast from the past. So it's my theme song for today.

Re: Your Theme Song today
Our computer shop in the small southeastern Texas rural town where I live is growing and the owner decided to hire another full time worker. The new hire guy likes music. And I am lucky since he likes old type rock and roll.
But he had to pass one task in the back room and that was to take apart a customer's laptop and replace the fan in it which was no longer working while listening to some of my old music. He said, "Bring it on and make sure the song has some FIRE in it.
I told him I would choose the song and he could choose the volume. He agreed. I picked this below because it has a three alarm fire to it.
The Cult - "Fire Woman" (with lyrics).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vffW5WbVDCY
BTW, he took that laptop apart like a "duck takes to water" and the song volume was a little loud. Just like I like it. I watched the new hire work on various laptops and desktop computers running Windows 10, 11 and to my surprise, a linux distro, Kali. I told the owner of the shop, my next door neighbor, this guy is a "keeper".
The owner told me, "You're biased because you like linux distros and old time rock and roll from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's". I told the owner, "Lucky for you and me" as I winked at him.

From 1982!! The video for that song is good, love those old 80's music videos that looked like something someone would film on a home camcorder.Moonchild wrote: ↑2025-05-17, 21:23Zapping around today on webSDR to test something, I hit AM6130 and they played Yazoo's "Don't Go".

I didn't know the name of that song but when I played it on newpipe I knew the rhythm and the words. I must have heard it when I used to listen to classic rock stations. The Cult looks like an 80's glam metal band, but with an edge to their music.Night Wing wrote: ↑2025-06-11, 23:15The Cult - "Fire Woman" (with lyrics).
