Indeed. True privacy with a VPN means setting up and using your own. That and TOR are your options when it comes to encrypting internet traffic, and of course you have to address advanced fingerprinting on the browser side as well, assuming you want to be anonymous. At that point use the Tor browser.

Otherwise, it's about all about reducing trackers so you're not hemorrhaging as much of your data, and you're avoiding the unnecessary consumption of system resources. And some naive fingerprinting as well, which Pale Moon handles splendidly.

Off-topic:
On that note, I wonder why FF hasn't considered using PM's canvas.poisondata setting for advanced fingerprinting, then, to just completely and utterly solve basic browser fingerprinting. Since the goal is privacy, not anonymity, this is objectively better than RFP, which was ported over from the Tor browser (which has it as one feature out of many more used to actually make users anonymous while browsing), and causes a good deal of site breakage.

Human rights, just like other rights, are things we have collectively, as societies, agreed on. They are not a joke, but they do stand and fall with society enforcing them or not, and you personally demanding they are upheld.

I understand what you are trying to say, that they are "just words", but they are words with attached societal consequences.
