Thunderbird alternatives?

Unread post by Zorba » 2022-06-19, 16:01

I've been using an old version (14) of TB for many years but getting warnings now that TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 may soon no longer be supported.

Is there anything to watch out for in the newer TB releases (latest is 91), e.g. hidden things that are good for providers/data gatherers rather than the user? Or is there a simple and safe alternative? Thanks

You are on the Pale Moon forum so I suggest anthenian200's Epyrus which is pretty much an UXP based clone of Thunderbird 52.

I use Claws-Mail, but for calendar you need a separate application.
If you use newer versions of TB, check for telemetry settings.

Don't know if something like arkenfox exists for TB or not.

Before switching to webmail for pretty much EVERYTHING  I really use to like Pegasus Mail because it's so advanced.

Another goold old alternative is The Bat!

Disclaimer : Please note I haven't used both for about 10+ years now and many things could have changed in that time! ;)

I second Claws Mail: if UI like traditional Thunderbird is important to you, you can thus keep it.
Browser: Pale Moon (Pusser’s repository for Debian)
Operating System: Linux Mint Debian Edition 4 (amd64)

I wish there was a plugin in Claws Mail to send HTML messages.
As far as I know there's only one for incoming messages.

I use Simple Mail XUL Add-On directly in Pale Moon, it's minimalist so don't expect anything like thunderbird, but it can be used professionally, i think Moonchild said it to me in the past here he used it before.
