Note about using Tor with Pale Moon

Unread post by Moonchild » 2020-10-29, 09:58

Just for your information if you use Pale Moon with the Tor anonymity network, I'd like to point out the following:
  1. If you exclusively use Tor, then you will most likely not get any updates for either the browser or extensions because they will run into our firewall policies where we either challenge (requiring interaction) or outright block tor exit nodes. That is not a good thing if you want to effectively use the network.
  2. Pale Moon does not include feature-crippling "mitigations" that have been adopted by Mozilla specifically to try and mask your browser's uniqueness. As such your use through Tor may still be linked to you through some smart correlation filtering unless you are extremely diligent in your use of Tor.
As such I strongly discourage using Pale Moon with Tor and you'd be much better off using the dedicated Tor browser.
