Unsupported browser errors

Post by Easy_Rider » 2020-02-02, 18:35

My O/S's are Ubuntu 18.04.3 and Zorin 15.0 and Pale Moon 28.7.0 64bit in a dual boot configuration.

Until about 6 months ago I was able to access the PC Financial/credit card (Canada) site easily. Now I receive the notice: "your browser is unsupported".
I have cleared the cache, cookies and temporary files that was suggested by PC Financial, to no avail.

This happens in both operating systems.

Is there a setting in about:config that I could change to rectify this situation?

Thanks in advance ....

Also check under Preferences -> advanced -> compatibility to see if it's set to "Firefox compatibility" which the bank might want.

Some websites I use on a daily basis have started throwing up "unsupported browser" errors, and they cannot be skipped or avoided. I am using Firefox Compatibility. Switching to Gecko Compatibility solves it. Is there any way to set this on a per-site basis, since using Gecko seems to break others?

Yes, this is why we have "Site-specific user-agent overrides"
You can create an override for any site/domain by creating a preference "general.useragent.override.example.com" and filling it with the exact user-agent you want to send to that site.
(replace example.com with the exact name of the domain). See the presets already there to have a hint as to how to do this :)

Ah excellent, I think that worked! I forgot you can just create them, I thought they were coded in.
